NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WIL L NOTINCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.Open only to legal U.S. residents, who are 18years of age or older as of date of entry and reside in one of the following counties in Californiain the Ventura County Star distribution area: Ventura County, Santa Barbara County and LosAngeles County. Void wherever prohibited by law. Employees of Scripps Media, Inc. d/b/aVentura County Star (Sponsor), their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising andpromotion agencies, prize suppliers, including any vendors providing services in connection withthis Sweepstakes and the immediate family members (spouse, mother, father, in-laws,grandmother, grandfather, brother, sister, children and grandchildren) and/or those living in thesame household of each are not eligible. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by theOfficial Rules and the decisions of Sponsor.

1) Beginning 12:01 AM Pacific Time April 9, 2013 through 11:59 PM Pacific TimeMay 31, 2013 (Entry Period), go towww.vcstar.com/subscribeand follow the on-screen instructions to activate your digital account if you are an existing VenturaCounty Star subscriber. Once you activate your digital account, follow the onscreeninstructions to enter the Sweepstakes.

Failure to comply with this or any other official rule will result in disqualification.)Mail your entry in a hand-addressed, business-size envelope (#10) with first-classpostage, to: Ventura County Star, Attention: Subscription Sweepstakes Entry, 550Camarillo Center Dr., Camarillo, CA 93010. Entries must be received by 5:00 PM PT6/03/2013. Limit one entry per envelope.

Limit one entry per person/household address regardless of method of entry. No mechanicallyreproduced entries of any kind permitted. Illegible and incomplete entries are void. Sponsor isnot responsible for lost, late, mutilated,postage due, misdirected entries or entries not received.In the event of a dispute over who submitted an online entry, the entry will be deemed to havebeen submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail account identified on the online

entry form. The authorized account holder is deemed to be the natural person who is assigned toan e-mail address by an Internet access provider, service provider, or online organizationresponsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mailaddress. Entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned.

RANDOM DRAWING: Winner(s) will be selected by random drawing on or about June 14,2013 from all eligible entries received. Decisions of Sponsor are final on all matters. Winnerswill be notified by phone/email using the information provided in the entry and will have three

(3) business days to respond. If there is no timely response an alternate potential prize winnermay be selected. Limit one prize per person/household address. Odds of winning will dependupon the number of eligible entries received.

PRIZE: Twenty (20) First Prizes the First Prize winners will each receive one (1) Apple

iPad Mini 16GB with Wi Fi (ARV: $329 each). 3G plan, Smart Cover, Apple care protectionplan and any additional services, accessories or features are NOT included. Prize will be fulfilledwith manufacturer seal packaging. Winner is responsible for care, use and follow up with themanufacturer should any mechanical or software problems arise with the prize.

Five (5) Second Prizes: each Second Prize winner will receive one (1), one-year PremiumSubscription to the Ventura County Star, which includes newspaper home delivery service andaccess to digital products (ARV $325.08/each). Subscription must be activated by September 1,2013 and will last approximately twelve (12) months from the date of activation. This prize isnon-transferable. The premium subscription prize will be assessed as a monthly credit for twelve(12) months on the winner's subscription account.

Prizes consist of only those items specifically listed as part of the prize. No substitution ortransfer/assignment of prize by winners permitted. Subject to all terms, conditions andrestrictions or imposed by issuer. If by reason of printing or other error, more prizes are claimedthan the number of prizes set forth in these Official Rules, a random drawing will be held toaward the advertised number of prizes in the relevant category. Under no circumstances willmore than the advertised number of prizes be awarded. Winners must pick up his or her prize atVCS offices located at 550 Camarillo Center Dr., Camarillo, CA 93010, M-F between 9AM 5PM.

SPONSOR MAKES NO WARRANTY, GUARANTEE, OR REPRESENTATION OF ANYKIND CONCERNING ANY PRIZE, AND SPONSORS SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM ANY

IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, WARRANTY OF FITNESS, AND ANYOTHER IMPLIED WARRANTY.

All federal, state and local taxes are solely the responsibility of winner(s). All federal, state andlocal laws and regulations apply. Potential winners (or parent/legal guardian if potential winneris a minor in his/her state of residence) may be required to sign and return an Affidavit ofEligibility/Release of Liability/Prize Acceptance Form, which may require social securitynumber, postmarked within 10 days of the date on notification materials. Noncompliance withinthis time period and/or return of any prize/prize notification as undeliverable may result indisqualification and an alternate potential winner may be randomly selected from all remainingeligible entries. To claim any prize, winner must provide valid government-issued photoidentification satisfactory to Sponsor in its sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right tosubstitute any prize with prize of equal or greater value. Acceptance of any prize constitutespermission to the Sponsor to use winners name, voice, statements, image and likeness forpurposes of advertising and trade, in any medium, without further compensation, unlessprohibited by law. Submission of contact information in connection with this Sweepstakes(whether or not required), including mailing address, phone number, and email address, duringentry constitutes permission for Sponsor to add entrant to Sponsors customer database and tocontact entrant in the future for promotional and other reasons. Sweepstakes, or Sponsors ability to include all eligible entries, conduct random drawings, notifypotential winners, or otherwise execute any Sweepstakes in the manner intended. Entrantsfurther release and agree to indemnify Sponsor and Sponsor Affiliates from any and all liability,claims or actions of any kind whatsoever arising from injuries, damages, or losses to persons orproperty which may be sustained in connection with any Sweepstakes, including, but not limited
