siemens.com/mobility Europe is changing, with increasing amounts of goods flowing across more and more borders. For rail transportation, this means high standards are required in terms of technical flexibility and economic plannability, with the market demanding greater investment security and functio- nality as well as retrofit and conversion capabilities. These requirements were the basis for the development of Vectron, the first systematically market-oriented pro- duct on the European locomotive market. Vectron is available as diesel and electric locomotive. Country packages as an optional feature for borderless mobility Vectron’s innovative smart-train protec- tion concept guarantees flexibility in European systems, both now and into the future. Vectron DE is suited for deploy- ment in virtually all European countries. The overall concept integrates the train protection systems used throughout Euro- pe, and takes into account the integration of the GSM-R analog train radio system for the 450 MHz and 160 MHz range. Long-standing locomotive expertise for market-leading performance Vectron DE relies on proven strengths combined with future-oriented strategies and innovations. Vectron was developed on the basis of the experience gained from over 1,600 Eurosprinters and Euro- runners. Several proven features of the Eurorunner like the transmission of tracti- ve effort via pivot pins, the bogie with the track-friendly pinion hollow-shaft drive, the straight panic-proof aisles and the ma- chine room layout have been continued in the Vectron DE. The concept is accom- panied e.g. with features like the replace- able front end with its crash-absorbing crumple zone and an increased maximum speed of 160 km/h. Sustainable convertibility for exceptional investment protection Future-oriented design features make for easy upgrading and conversion. This me- ans, for example, that classic screw coup- lings with side buffers can be integrated in the headpiece, as can center buffer couplings. The flexible machine room confi- guration allows for an easy conversion from a passenger into a cargo locomotive and vice versa. Traffic mission-oriented portfolio for long-term cost-efficiency Vectron DE has been designed for all types of transportation needs. Whether you ope- rate nationally or across borders, with pas- senger or freight traffic, Vectron DE can meet all your traction needs efficiently and cost-effectively. Vectron of course is suited for multiple unit operation – with all other Vectron locos, but also with any other modern Siemens locomotive – no matter whether diesel or electric locomotive. Europe is changing, with increasing amounts of goods flowing across more and more borders. For rail transportation, this means high standards are required in terms of technical flexibility and economic plannability, with the market demanding greater investment security and functio-nality as well as retrofit and conversion capabilities. These requirements were the basis for the development of Vectron, the first systematically market-oriented pro-duct on the European locomotive market. Vectron is available as diesel and electric locomotive.

Country packages as an optional feature for borderless mobilityVectron’s innovative smart-train protec-tion concept guarantees flexibility in European systems, both now and into the future. Vectron DE is suited for deploy-ment in virtually all European countries. The overall concept integrates the train protection systems used throughout Euro-pe, and takes into account the integration of the GSM-R analog train radio system for the 450 MHz and 160 MHz range.

Long-standing locomotive expertise for market-leading performance Vectron DE relies on proven strengths combined with future-oriented strategies and innovations. Vectron was developed on the basis of the experience gained from over 1,600 Eurosprinters and Euro-

runners. Several proven features of the Eurorunner like the transmission of tracti-ve effort via pivot pins, the bogie with the track-friendly pinion hollow-shaft drive, the straight panic-proof aisles and the ma-chine room layout have been continued in the Vectron DE. The concept is accom-panied e.g. with features like the replace-able front end with its crash-absorbing crumple zone and an increased maximum speed of 160 km/h.

Sustainable convertibility for exceptional investment protectionFuture-oriented design features make for easy upgrading and conversion. This me-ans, for example, that classic screw coup-lings with side buffers can be integrated

in the headpiece, as can center buffer couplings. The flexible machine room confi-guration allows for an easy conversion from a passenger into a cargo locomotive and vice versa.

Traffic mission-oriented portfolio for long-term cost-efficiency Vectron DE has been designed for all types of transportation needs. Whether you ope-rate nationally or across borders, with pas-senger or freight traffic, Vectron DE can meet all your traction needs efficiently and cost-effectively. Vectron of course is suited for multiple unit operation – with all other Vectron locos, but also with any other modern Siemens locomotive – no matter whether diesel or electric locomotive.

Enviromentally friendly engine concept for a clean futureThe protection and preservation of the environment is an urgent matter for our society. Environmentally friendly vehicles – which at the same time ensure cost ef-ficiency over the long term – support your market positioning as a sustainable mobility provider. Equipped with a diesel engine according to EU97/IIIB Vectron DE is the trendsetter regarding reduction of emissions. Particle emissions are reduced up to 87.5 % by measures internal to the engine and a particle filter.

Effective solutions for maximum environmental friendlinessVectron DE uses the braking energy to supply auxiliaries and – in case of the passenger version – for supplying the tra-inset. An auxiliary power unit with start/stop system is available as an option. Our proven engine start system with high power capacitors reduces battery waste. And the maximum recyclability makes Vectron DE a locomotive consequently optimized towards environmental friend-liness with a significantly reduced effect on the environment.

Needs-based service for highest availabilityMaintenance needs vary from customer to customer. That’s why the Vectron Rail-cover service concept is built on a modu-lar concept based on a total of 1,000 contractual years of experience in global maintenance projects. Every customer can choose from a large number of care-fully conceived modules and assemble a service package adapted to their specific requirements – from spare parts supply, access to a service network and Support Center up to full service packages.
