SGM (Retired) Clyde E.Hyde, Jr accomplishments go well beyond rising to the rank of Sergeant Major. Throughout his military career and into retirement he continues to educate both the military and civilian community on the principles of duty, honor country.SGM Hyde served as the first enlisted Commander of the Advance Noncommissioned Officers Course Company 1985 -1988. He was responsible for the health, welfare, morale and physical training of 1100 Senior Noncommissioned Officers attending the Signal Corps Advance Noncommissioned Officers Course on an annual basis. He counseled and supervised an academic staff of 93 military and 13 civilian personnel. He was instrumental in getting the Non- Commissioned Officer accredited. He also conducted one to three graduations per month.As Division SGM and Senior Instructor for the Tactical Signal Operations (TSO) Division C Company 447th Signal Bn (1988 - 1990), he was responsible for interviewing and selecting Senior NCOs for Instructor positions within the Division. He was responsible for training soldiers in two courses with a population of 600-700 soldiers. He counseled and supervised an academic staff of 109 military and 30 civilians. In 1989 he was the driving force in moving the 36M and 31V courses from old wooden billets to Brems Barracks where he and his staff build and remodeled all classrooms during the Christmas exodus.SGM Hyde's military education includes, Communications Center Specialist Course, Heavy Weapons Course 7th Army NCO Academy, High GED, USARSO CBN course Parachutists School, Telecommunications Switch Operation Course, Data Communications Terminal Specialist Course, First Sergeant Course, Leadership Management Development Course, Drill Sergeant Course, Effective Writing Course, Windmills Course and Military and a host of military and civilian management courses.SGM Hyde's assignments included Pole Lineman, Ft Campbell KY, Pole Lineman and Communications Center Operator Kaiserslautern Germany, Instructor Communications Center 2nd Logistics Command Ft Lee, VA, Communications Operator and Fire Team Leader 1st Calvary Division, Communications Operator and Perimeter Guard Republic of Vietnam, Post Signal Sgt and Club Manager Camp McCoy WI, NCOIC Communications Center USARSO Panama, Senior Instructor Ft Gordon, GA, 1st Sergeant 56th FA BDE, Germany, Senior Drill Instructor Ft Gordon, l s: Sergeant 26,h bignal BN, Reilbron, German, V' Sergeant 67th Signal Battalion, Commands and Course Manager NCO Academy Ft Gordon, GA., Division Sergeant Major and Senior Instructor Ft Gordon, GA.SGM Hyde has been awarded Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal w/2ndOak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Oversea Ribbons, Non Commissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/12 Campaign stars. Combat Infantry Badge, Parachutist, Good Conduct Medal 8th Award, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Unit, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, German Marksmanship Award in Bronze, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Eight Overseas Service Bars.SGM Hyde has served our country and soldiers for over 30 years and continues to do so. Since his retirement in 1990, he continues to plav an active role as a mentor for young NCOs and both elementary and High School students.SGM Hyde has served a wide variety of positions with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)10,h District level and (Post 649). Grand Commander of Military Order of the Cooties (MOC) GA 2005-2006. In addition to positions held with MOC (PT-69) and numerous other community programs Voice of Democracy Chairman, Americanism Chairman, ROTC Chairman, Hospital Chairman, Annual Thanksgiving and Christmas Basket Program, Chairman and Community Service Chairman for Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 649 Augusta, GA. He was the initial force in the development of the Navy Sea Cadet Program at Spirit Creek Middle School and was very- active in supporting the programs and activities of the local Bov Scouts.
