As re-engineered content moves into the fleet for training, one of the mechanisms by which content will be hosted and distributed is the Virtual Desktop Initiative (VDI). VDI provides a common cybersecure delivery method across the Navy where reconfigured training assets can enable training to support ready relevant learning. The mission of VDI is to establish an agile, sustainable enterprise training delivery environment using standard technology solutions that improve Naval Education and Training Command (NETC) training delivery and security posture while reducing overall costs to the Navy and complying with the Department of Navy Chief Information Officer (DON CIO) Memo on 29 July 2013 (Department of the Navy Chief Information Officer Memorandum, Server, System and Application Virtualization). VDI is integral to the NETC mission to train and educate Sailors serving in several ratings in direct support of global naval operations. All curricula is digitally based and delivered via current computer technology in terms of hardware and software. The infusion of technology also supports our formative and summative evaluation of the curricula by providing access to On Line Testing (OLT) and student critiques through the Learning Assessment System.
