High Masts

Within the range of high masts intended for lighting

large areas, lowering systems make it easier

and safer to clean and maintain oodlights by

enabling work to be carried out at ground

level.

High masts for various luminary combinations

can be designed, manufactured and supplied

based on the customer requirement. Heights

varying from 12 to 60 m can be achieved.

from leading steel mills. We get steel

from the best international suppliers

also. We dene the parameters for our

steel requirement so that our poles are

structurally safe and aesthetically best.

With more than 65 years of combined global

experience in structural design, manufacturing

and testing, and with a team of professional

engineers working from different parts of the

globe, we have the resources, capacity, and

capabilities to anticipate and fulll our cus-

tomers needs.

Our engineers are procient in internation-

ally recognized codes and standards, such as

AASTHO, ASCE, ANSI, CP3 & TR7 and BS5649.

We consider Indian standards like IS 875 Part

3 also while preparing our designs. Simply

stated, engineering is so ingrained into the

Valmont philosophy that our engineering

capacity and capabilities are what set us apart

CoatingWelding

One of the most common and effective ways

to protect steel from corrosion is galvaniz-

ing, which provides steel with both interior

and exterior protection from corrosion. This

barrier coating is unique, differing from all

other coatings in the way it bonds to the

steel, and in the corrosion resistance of the

resulting zinc surface. Valmont is a pioneer

and an industry leader in hot-dip galvanizing.

Valmont is one of the largest custom galva-

nisers in the United States.

In India, Valmont operates the biggest

galvanising facility in the country. Hot-dip

galvanizing standard ASTM A123/A153.

Hot dip galvanised poles with painted

nish can also be supplied as per customer

requirement. Such poles will provide a better

aesthetic appearance.

All welding shall be in accordance with theAmerican Welding Society (AWS) D1.1

Structural Welding Code. Welders are

qualied in accordance with AWS code. Shaft

longitudinal seam welds shall be free of cracks

and excessive undercut, performed with

automatic process and visually inspected.

Full penetrated welding is required for all slip

Joint areas.

Automatic welding machines are used for

welding of base plates on poles also.

The quality of 100% penetration welds is

tested by ultrasonic inspection to AWS D1.1,

latest revision section 8.15 modied. So

acceptable inclusion size is compatible with

the design criteria. The quality of all other

welds is checked by either visual inspection

or magnetic particle inspection to AWSD1.1

section 8.5 latest revision.
