Progress and time schedule

• Agreement with WP Controls about system to be used as interface between PVSS and vacuum equipment

• Attended to PVSS (WinCC OA) course at CERN• Planned to start programming of control system

Feb 2011• Further training on PVSS foreseen to be able to

act as first level support

Design of Vac Control System

• Two main parts:• PVSS in combination with OPC Server for data

acquisition and general controling• Sector valve controller cards for interlock handling on

hardware basis

• Each sector has at least 3 pressure sensors (gauges and ion pumps)

• >1 pressure sensor gives a pressure over a certain thresholdInterlock

• Controllers of pumps and gauges can handle 2 or more devicesnever more than one device of a sector handled by one controller

• Thresholds for interlocks are set in the controllers• Controller is directly connected with the valve

controller cards of the sector valves belonging to the sector

• Communication between valve controller cards and PVSS over 3 digital I/Os:• Input: Open/Close• Output: Valve open• Output: Valve closed
