WIND CAVE

Wind Cave was a really big cave with like 30 underground floors. It was kind of chilly too. Our group went down lots and lots of stairs. My parents got hit by underground raindrops. The leading ranger said that if you got hit by a drop, you would get 7 years of luck. The cave was pretty cool.

BADLANDS NATIONAL PARK

Badlands National Park was amazing. It had bright orange mountains, wide steep cliffs, and a lot of other awesome stuff. There were trails on which you could hike on. Each trail had a different path. Some got you to the sides of mountains, and some got you to the tops of cliffs. I’m thankful we went there twice.

MOUNT RUSHMORE

Mount Rushmore was better than I thought. (Except the part I couldn’t go right in front of the faces.) It had a trail, a Native American outdoor “exhibit” with Tipis, a room with statues, and a big gift shop. The faces were really bright when I saw it. (Like in the picture.)

LAURA INGALLS WILDER HOMESTEAD, DE SMET

Laura Ingalls Wilder Homestead, De Smet was one of the places Laura Ingalls Wilder spent her life. The place had a windmill tower where you could overlook everything, a dugout (underground house), a normal 1800-1900 house, a schoolhouse, a barn, a wagonride, and of course a visitor center. In one of the houses, there was a place where you could do the laundry in a old style way, and a place where you could make a toy that a 1800-1900 kid would play with.

RESTAURANTS

We went to McDonalds a few times. I mostly ate 2 McChickens and a mango smoothie.

Hunan Garden was a Chinese restaurant with acceptable food. My favorite there was probably dumplings.

Coco Palace was my least favorite restaurant. The food there was pretty bad.

We went to Wendy’s once. The burgers there were yummy. (But not as much as McDonalds!)

Perkins had okay food. But it wasn’t that yummy.

HOLIDAY INN

Holiday Inn was more of a hotel than an inn. It was really big. It had a food court (or something like that), a swimming pool, and a gift shop. This place is probably the best hotel I’ve ever been to!

BEST WESTERN, LEE'S MOTOR INN

Best Western was pretty great too. It had a swimming pool, a breakfast area, a park with a big bridge as you see in the picture, a McDonalds pretty much besides it….. Okay, I think I’m getting off track. (I also think that’s about it.)

CONCLUSION

We did go to some other hotels, but I can’t seem to remember their names. Oh well. My vacation to South Dakota was one of the best vacations I’ve ever been to! (As you can see in the pages before this one.) Well, I hope you enjoyed my powerpoint!
