PROJECT MANAGER VACANCY
Organization: CEFA
Role: Project Manager – CEFA Sesame Value Chain -Somalia
Duty station: Nairobi, Kenya
Area of intervention: Somalia
Start up: 20th June 2016
Contract duration: 5 months (renewable)
Responsibilities and duties
1. Plan and supervise the sesame trial and demonstration activities: identify the highest yielding sesame variety among four to be tested, under similar conditions in Jowhar and Balad;
2. Improve the management practices of sesame farmers in Jowhar and Balad locations through training program;
3. Develop an M&E framework for the project and submit monthly report;4. Coordination of local staff and local partners; 5. Familiarize and engage sesame stakeholders all along the value chain – agricultural input
suppliers, farmers, traders, and exporters;6. Disseminate the results of the trial plots widely using a variety of media channels.7. Participate in the design and preparation of project proposals in the areas of food security,
environment, and nutrition.
Skills & Qualifications
• Education: preferred Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy or related field;
• Professional experience: at least 2 years of relevant experience as Project Manager, preferably in Somalia;
• Languages required: English (excellent written and spoken) and preferably Somali;
• Computer skills: excellent computer skills.
Other skills required
• Agricultural and managerial skills;
• Good inter-personal skills, and teamwork skills;
• Staff management skills;
• Ability to work in multicultural environments, and to adapt and work in difficult situations.
