Message from the Martin’s Chase Board of Directors:

The Board is interested is increasing Committee representation and homeowner participation at the Board meetings. They encourage Committee members to attend Board meetings and/or provide a written report to ensure effective communication between the Board and its committees. Additionally, the Board encourages ALL residents to participate in the Board and Committee meetings and consider volunteering to serve on the Committees (Social, Covenants, Facilities, and Finance).

Many of the Committee members’ three-year terms are coming to an end within the 2014 calendar year and many positions will be available.  We are especially interested in ensuring residents in the newer areas of the community feel welcome and have representation within the Committees and at the Board meetings.   The only way the Board can speak to the best interests of the community as a whole is if we receive more active participation from its members.

The Martin’s Chase Board of Directors held their bi-monthly meeting Tuesday, October 22, 2013.

A couple of the items that were discussed in the October meeting were:

Committee Charters – The Board reviewed the appointment terms for all Committees. It was noted the Facilities Committee Charter was the only charter that allowed for less than a three-year term.  The Board approved to increase the Facilities Committee appointments to a three year term, which will make all charters consistent.

The Facilities and Finance Committees are actively pursuing competitive trash & recycling service proposals to ensure competitive pricing and eliminate the current fuel surcharge provision in the contract.

Revised budgets of the Social Committee events were submitted for review.   The Board and members of the Finance Committee would like to see all previously held events continue, unless they were not well attended. Also, the Board would consider additional funding for Social Committee events, if needed.

Several owners requested an update from Lennar on the status of the $35,000 payment previously offered to the Association in lieu of an additional tot lot by Thomas Vittitow, former Board President and Lennar representative. Mr. Jaymand stated that while Lennar’s decision was to build the additional tot lot as included in the original plans, he would express the residents’ concerns to Lennar and report back.

A Homeowner requested that the Board minutes include more detail with regard to discussions held in Resident Forum, and inquired as to the number of trees Lennar was planning on replanting as well as the anticipated completion date. Mr. Jaymand stated he would provide a response at the next meeting.

We look forward to seeing many new and familiar faces at our next scheduled meeting on Tuesday, December 10th at 6:30 pm
