Our new L150D and L180D build on the reputation established bytheir C-series predecessors. We stuck our neck out then, and wereproud to stick it out again. These two new loaders are packed withenough innovative solutions to lend weight to any rock, aggregateor logging operation. Among the many improvements were introducing are Care Cab II, an operator environment that is set tobecome an industry benchmark, and Contronic II, the mostadvanced electronic watchdog on the market.

A strong link in your production chainA strong factor in the high productioncapacity of the L150D and the L180Dis TP-linkage, our own patented lift-arm system that delivers high breakouttorque throughout the lift cycle incombination with parallel lift action.Not only does the TP-linkage outper-form Z-bar systems in productionbucket work, it also sets the industrystandard in log grapple applications. Infact, no other lift-arm system can allowone machine to be both a productionloader and a serious material handler.Just specify an optional Volvo attach-ment bracket, and you're ready totackle all of your heavy duty jobs withthe L150D or the L180D. And ifthose jobs require a little extra dumpheight, an optional Long Boom is avail-able for both loaders.

Power for productivityThe fuel-efficient Volvo High Perfor-mance Low Emission engines in theL150D and the L180D generates hightorque at low engine speeds, providinghigh rimpull and fast acceleration forfast work cycles in the most demand-ing applications. The high torque/lowrpm characteristics of Volvo enginesmake throttle response instantaneous,giving these two loaders the agility andspeed needed to set new productionrecords.

A perfect matchThe true strength of the L150D andthe L180D can be traced directly totheir well-matched, Volvo-built drive-trains and hydraulic systems, workingtogether to provide the optimum balance of power between the wheelsand the working hydraulics. The trans-mission also features four forward andfour reverse gears, allowing for evenmore agility in tight applications.

TP linkage, together with Volvo-designed buck-ets, gives the maximum bucket fill factor on themarket today.

The well-matched drivetrain allows for amplerimpull and excellent hydraulic power for allloading applications.

TP linkage comes into its own in timber applica-tions. No other system provides such highbreakout torque throughout the lift cycle.

From floor to ceiling, this cab has been designed to pro-vide maximum comfort, safety and ease of operation. Even the airinside has been enhanced. Our new ventilation system allows allrecirculated air to pass through the main filter, providing thecleanest operator environment in the industry.

Toyour right, the hydraulic lever consolecan be adjusted to suit any operator.On the console itself, youll find pilot-operated fingertip hydraulic levers foreasy and precise boom/bucket controlas well as controls for the APS II shift-ing system. All instrumentation is rightin front of you on the center consoleof the new wrap-around dashboard.The three-piece, silicon-bonded frontwindshield provides excellent visibilityto the front, while a new, larger rearwindow gives you a clear rear view.

Custom shiftingThe unique APS II automatic shiftingsystem monitors both engine speedand ground speed to provide precisecontrol of gear shifting at all times.APS II also features a dashboard-mounted mode selector, enabling youto select one of four different shiftingmodes to optimize performance in anyapplication.

Keep an eye on performanceThe Contronic II monitoring systemcontinuously monitors all vital

machine systems and functions,instantly alerting you when a potentialproblem or fault occurs. All informa-tion is displayed in plain text in one ofseveral languages. The new displaycontrol panel now features directaccess buttons for all major monitoringfunctions, making the industrys mostadvanced watchdog even more user-friendly. Service technicians can use theoptional Contronic II service displaytool or our new PC-based data trackingsystem, Matris, to access operatinginformation stored in the machinesmain computer.

Increase comfort and productivity atthe same timeA full range of productivity-boostingoptions, including Comfort DriveControl (CDC) lever steering, areavailable on L150D and L180D. CDCis particularly effective in fast-pacedtruck loading operations, where contin-uous turning of the steering wheel canbe trying over the course of a long day.Another productivity-boosting optionis the improved Boom SuspensionSystem (BSS). BSS acts as a shockabsorber for the loader linkage,smoothing out the bumps in rough ter-rain for faster travel speeds with bothloaded and empty buckets.

No noise to shout about The low-emission engine, coupled withgood sound insulation, helps to furtherreduce internal and external noise levels. When equipped with an option-al noise reduction kit*, the L150D andthe L180D both comply with EU2006 sound regulations.

TP LinkageUnique patented linkage system combines parallel lift action with high breakout torquethroughout the whole lifting cycle, as well as optimal visibil-ity around the attachment. Long boom version is optional.

Boom Suspension System (BSS)*BSS* utilitizes nitrogen/oil accumulators connected to thelift cylinders to absorb shocks and smooth out roughroads. Boom Suspension has two modes, gear-depen-dent or speed-dependent, to match any job condition.

Easier daily maintenanceOur factory-mounted Automatic Lubrication System* takescare of required greasing while the machine operates in itsnormal work cycle. This means less downtime for sched-uled maintenance and more productive work time.

Volvo axlesVolvo axles feature outboard-mounted wet disc brakeswith internal oil circulation cooling, fully floating axleshafts and a front axle differential lock.

Contronic IIThe Contronic II monitoring system keeps an eye on all vitalmachine systems and functions in order to warn you ofpotential problems or faults before its too late. Warningmessages and operating information are shown in plain texton the dashboard-mounted display screen. Service techni-cians can increase their diagnostic efficiency by using theContronic II service display or Matris software to downloadoperating information stored in the machines computer.

Care Cab IIA safe, comfortable, efficient and ROPS/FOPS-certifiedoperator environment featuring a new wraparound dash-board with central instrumentation, a larger rear window,and an adjustable hydraulic lever console with pilot-operat-ed fingertip hydraulic levers.
