Dethroned in 1959 as the ICAC champions, the 1960 Broncos roared
back with a perfect 5-0 conference record and recaptured the top spot for
the thirteenth time in 14 years. Over-all they compiled an 8-2 record.
Coach Lyle Smith found only a handful of lettermen as he opened the
season, but soon found that this squad was out to set a new record. Paced
by a pair of freshman halfbacks, Frank Kaaa and Francis Meyer, the gridders
scored 416 points for a new all-time scoring record.
All-American honors were given to Kaaa; Dave Wilcox, end; and Gayle
Laudenslager, guard. Center Allen Dougal was selected to play in the NJCAA
East-West All-Star-Game.

First Row: Fred Young, manager, Pat O'Donnell, Jack Fawcett, Wendell Stonelake and Doug Dil lard.
Second Row: Byron Tapp, Charles Feilback, Elmer Deschaine, Carl Gibson. Third Row: George
Blankley, coach, Lloyd Turner, Roger Thurston, Irvin Dust and Doug Weaver.
The story of Basketball at Boise Junior College in 1960-61 can be titled "a strong finish" and this factor enabled the Broncos to finish with a 9-12 over-all record. In the ICAC race they won 5 while losing 7.
The lack of a big man hurt George Blankley's squad in early games, and when they finally began to click, it was the speed and aggressiveness that provided the power for victory.
Elmer Deschaine, Charles Feilback, and Pat O'Donnell, all sophomores, were the leading scorers, with Doug Weaver, freshman center improving greatly as the season progressed. Coach Blankley lost the majority of his team by graduation and will be looking for new talent for 1961-62.

Lyle Smith, coach; and Jim Graham, manager. Third Row: Marash Stevens, Henry Mendazona,
Bernard Bisho, John Krause, Mike Glenn, John Messick, John Swan, Dave Sewright, Frank Kaaa,
and Francis Ah Yat.
Baseball coach Lyle Smith had a rebuilding job to do in order to equal the record of his 1960 Broncos. Over all, last year's squad won 19 while losing 7, with a perfect 12-0 record in conference play.
Lost by graduation was pitcher Pat House, the first Little Ail-American baseball player at BJC, and the ace that hoisted the 1960 team to the conference championship and a berth in the NJCAA Baseball Tournament in Colorado. To fill this vacancy Smith found another left-hander, Mike Glenn, a former Boise High School star.
Other players who showed strong in the early 24 game schedule were: Glenn Oura, infielder, David Sewright, pitcher; Bernard Bisho, outfielder; and Henry Mendazona, outfielder. The Broncos had jumped off to an early string of victories with key pitching and hitting when the Annual went to press.

Track
Firsti Row: Jack Flynn, Jerry Allen, Tom Jayo, and Dale Young. Second Row: Nick Yorges,
Dewey Holmes, James Boren, Bob Brennan, and Gary Halcom. Third Row: Ray Lewis, coach;
Doug Hopkins, Sam Kim, Scott Fitch, Glenn Walker, and Wendell Babcock.
Ray Lewis, track coach, faced a complete set of new faces as he opened the 1961 track season as the defending ICAC champions. Lost by graduation were Curt Flisher and Gary Bonar, two members of the 1960 squad that competed in the NJCAA Meet held in Texas.
Early indications showed the thinclads to be strong in the field events, the hurdles, and the middle distance events. Although there was more depth than usual, Lewis was searching his ranks for speed.
Promising prospects were Milton Kanahe and Dave Wilcox, shot-put; Gary Halcom, high jump; Glenn Walker, dashes; Gary Hoxsey, pole vault; Jon Pattinson, javelin; and Doug Dillard, Doug Hopkins, and Wendell Babcock, hurdles.
