Since its inception in 1994, the division has grown into a premier department equipped with state at the art infrastructure, endowed with dedicated staff committed to curve professionals out of students. The majority of the Textile Tech. alumni are well placed in leading R & D, Textile and apparel units, while others are pursuing their higher studies in Indian and foreign universities. To further groom the personalities of the students an intra collegiate Textile club “TEXPERT”- an experts club, bestows the strong communication skills in young budding Textile Technologists. Current research work is directed towards studies involving effect of various chemical processes on the functional properties of fabrics, Application of Natural Dyes, Use of Enzymes in Textiles, UV Degradation studies, Recycling of Water from Efluents, Structure Property Relations in Knits, Woven and Role of Neural Networks in design of Textiles and Design and Development of Ikat art machinery. ABOUT THE PROGRAMME (Six Sigma and its Applications)

Six Sigma (6σ) is a set of techniques and tools for

process improvement. Six Sigma strategies seek to

improve the quality of the output of a process by

identifying and removing the causes of defects and

minimizingvariabilityinmanufacturingandbusiness

processes. It is a disciplined, statistical-based, data-

driven approach and continuous improvement

methodology for eliminating defects in a product,

processorservice.Thisprocessincludesmeasurement,

improvementandvalidationactivities.Thedesignation,

ortitle,SixSigma,relatestotheconnectionbetweenthe

number of defects per million opportunities and the

numberofstandarddeviationsfoundwithinaprocess

speciication. It is a Quality Management System

(QMS) that emphasizes the relationship between

product performance and the corrections required

duringmanufacture.Thefourphasesystembecamethe

built.ThefourphaseswereMeasure,Analyze,Improve

and Control. With rising material cost and ever-

increasing competition, organizations must seek out

methods to increase eficiency. By implementing Six

Sigma methodology, an organization can improve

eficiency through identiication and resolution of

product or part defects and minimize the variation

withinaprocess.SixSigmacanbeeficientlybeapplied
