STATUS: In Service
1. The Vessel V-636 was inspected by TesTex, Inc. for an API-510 external evaluation. All thickness readings
collected for this inspection exhibited little to no corrosion from previous inspection. No mandatory repairs
were noted during this inspection. Several non-mandatory items were noted. Attached pressure gauge dial
lenses were noted to be cracked, but can still be read. Some cracking in the containment dike wall over the
containment drain is present. The dike drain is partially clogged with debris and dirt. The top concrete blocks
of the dike are missing cement and are crumbling. The vessel is not grounded. Pressure relief piping exhibits
surface corrosion, and should be cleaned and painted.
2. Ultra Sonic thickness readings and visual inspection were the primary non destructive methods used to
inspect the vessel.
3. Industry standards used to inspect and evaluate the vessel were

Condition 2 Condition 3
Damage and/or failure noted. Requires
repair and/or re-inspection prior to
returning to service.
Minor damage noted with low
likelyhood of failure/risk. Repair
per industry best paractice.
Condition 1
Major damage/failure or safety related
item noted; requires immediate
attention. Vessel not fit for service.
Action to be taken
The vessel is not grounded. Grounding is not
required by ASME BPVC Sec. VIII but is
recommended by RP API-571.
Attach a grounding strap of no more than
25 Ohms electrical resistance.
Action Items:
Description
The walkway platform shows mild surface
corrosion.
The discharge piping should be cleaned
and painted.
Consider cleaning and painting the
walkway platform.
Considere replacing the cracked dial
glasses.
A crack is located in the concrete
containment dike wall above the dike drain.
Considere repairing the crack in the dike
wall.
The containment dike drain is partially
clogged with dirt and debris
Considere cleaning the dike drain.
Pressure relief discharge piping shows signs
of paint failure and surface corrosion.
Dial glasses of both mechanical pressure
gauges are cracked, but still can be read.

Condition
Dead, dried vegetation was present in the vessels secondary
containment area. The vessel is clean and accessible.
The shell plate signs of previous external pitting. The pitting is currently
painted. External pitting has arrested since the application of its
external coating.

The West head shows no signs of buckling, cravking, or previous
leaking. Previous external pitting is visible beneath the external
coating.
The East head shows no signs of buckling, cravking, or previous
leaking. Previous external pitting is visible beneath the external
coating.
Welds, examined through the vessel external coating, are in good
condition.
Support Structures
The vessel is supported by four v-shaped legs on top of 2 concrete
pedestals. The legs are attached by painted anchorbolts.

Nozzles
Attached electrical conduit support is in good condition.
PSV discharge piping paint has failed. The piping shows paint failure
and signs of surface corrosion.
All vessel nozzles were visually examined and found to be in good
conditon. UT thickness readings could not be taken due to the nozzles
threading.
Attached mechanical pressure gauges have cracks in the glass lenses
covering the dial. The gauges can still be read. The digital gauge is in
good condition. Piping associated with the digital pressure gauge
shows signs of surface corrosion.
