Original Route: 2 x 50 m ropes, bolt anchors may be difficult to locate. Four Stations. Watch for avalanche hazard from Mt. Topham.
New descent route (April 2010) possible due to icefall melt-back. Three 30 m bolted rapells. Anchors are marked with orange

Traverse between ice and top of cliff band to prominent rock thumb closest to icefall
Note: The second rappel is vertical, and will be tricky with heavy packs, icy ropes or thin diameter ropes. A 4th anchor exists for summer use or in very low snow years when skiing from the ramp is not possible. Be cognizant of avalanche hazard on ramp below icefall and from Mt. Topham.
Cairn on top of rock outcrop
April 2011
New Route Description •Approach the Deville Headwall along the eastern side of the glacier. To find the first station, follow the natural terrain depression along the edge of the glacier, following the line between the ice and rock working west towards the centre of the headwall . The first station is located on a rock outcrop nearest to the ice. All stations have yellow reflective markers. There is one cairn marking the start of the route. The first station is on the rock outcrop immediately below the cairn, and is made visible with a reflective orange marker (UTM: 11U 0473899 / 5667305). •Rappel One: 25m, 2 bolt station •Rappel 25m down the gully, wrapping slightly climbers left to small exposed rock below a bulging buttress (orange marker). It is possible to climb back up from this point. •Rappel Two: 30m, 4 bolt station •Rappel fall line 30m down the skiers right (west) side of the rock outcrop that you are standing on. The next station is located below the vertical seam in a small rock corner . This pitch is vertical, committing, and the next station will be at the end of your rope. Standard safety precautions are essential. •Rappel Three: 30m, 4 bolt station •Rappel fall line down to snow ramp below. From here groups may choose to ski (if conditions allow) or may build a t-slot anchor to descend to lower angle slopes below. A fourth bolted station is located on the rock face if there is not enough snow left to descend the ramp. During most spring conditions, this anchor will be under several feet of snow.
