Zuni Hills staff, students, and community took some time to honor our veterans near and far. The assembly began with a beautiful slideshow honoring those who have served, instru-mental performances by our Grizzly band, choir ensembles, and poetry written by our talent-ed students. A big thank you to our very own veteran, Mr. Salch and his committee for putting on such a great event.

Study Island– Earn Those Blue Ribbons Our district purchased a subscription to a research-based standards mastery program called,

Study Island. Your child can access Study Island free of charge anywhere that inter-

net access is available.

Our goal is for your child to earn as many blue ribbons as they can. Research

shows, this program will improve student achievement as students are practicing

concepts tied to our state’s educational standards.

Prizes will be awarded to students, classes, and the grade level with the most blue

ribbons. Study Island is available for Math and English Language Arts practice.

Giving Thanks to our Veterans

Student Council—We are host-

ing a gently used blanket, hoodie/coat

and new socks drive. All items will be

donated to reKindle, a charity ran by

one of our very own students to help the

homeless. We will be collecting dona-

tions from December 1-11th. Sixth grade students making gifts for

Kindergarten Trip

Kindergarten learned about

community resources while

attending a field trip to Tol-

machoff Farms on November

12th. All students and chaper-

ones picked vegetables and

learned about the uses of

corn. Puzzle skills and prob-

lem solving skills were used

to navigate the corn maze!

We had a

great trip!

Animal Education

Fourth grade had the opportunity to ex-

perience “hands on” learning as Deb’s

Dragons came to visit. Students en-

joyed learning more about reptiles and

amphibians aligned to their curriculum.

(Pictured on the right)

My name is Deb D’Antonio

AKA Miss Deb. I have

worked in the Peoria Unified

School District since August

of 2000 and have been at

Zuni Hills for the past seven

years. (Boy time flies when

you’re having fun!) My position of Resource

Assistant for Mrs. Priolo and Mrs. Fulgham al-

lows me the opportunity to work with students

from K-5 which I really enjoy.

I grew up in Farmingdale, NY where I met and

married my husband, Tom. We have been

happily married for 34 years. Tom and I have

three sons, four grandsons, one granddaugh-

ter, and two little pug dogs. I love to read,

shop, and go to the movies. I am a big Beatle’s

fan and never miss a Packers football game.

Zuni Hills is a great school to work at because

the staff and students make every day an ad-

venture!

Elementary

Take a look at our school website for

important dates. (You can find it on

Peoria Unified School District’s

website)

Please remember to only use the pick-up and drop-

off zones in the front of the school. Thank you for

your cooperation in keeping all students safe.

BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS

From Mrs. Stepp- My favorite book is Mrs. Piggle Wiggle’s Magic. An awe-

some 3rd grade teacher introduced me

to the Mrs. Piggle Wiggle books and I

became a voracious reader after that!!

Mrs. Stepp

From Mrs. Kluyt- I am reading “All the Light We Cannot See” It is so well writ-

ten and engaging! I love historical fic-

tion and this is a beautifully written ex-

ample of it!

From Mrs. Kaufman- My favorite au-thor is Patricia Polacco. She is a chil-

dren’s book author. Her stories all come

from her life or the lives of people who

are important to her. She is also the il-

lustrator of her books. Patricia Polacco

has a learning disability and she did not

learn to read until she was 14 years

old!!! She wrote her first book when she

was 41 years old.
