Tuesday Aug 9 2011- The Experimental Low Clouds/Fog Product this morning showing more extensive
coverage over the Gulf Coast Plain than yesterday but still not filled in per “normal” Uvalde conditions. 24-Hr T/DP similar with minor variations in DP. Note the included picture of the “morning stratus” at Uvalde. While the cloud field and low-level moisture looked promising…the upper air is drying under subsidence as the Southwest U.S. High Pressure moves back eastward. By launch at 12:45 PM CDT, the cloud field had lifted to SCT035 and does appear to be drying.
- Soaring forecasts for the day seem to indicate “blue” soaring with only moderate heights and lift. Racing tasks are assigned for 3 to 4 hours flying.
