If you plan to attend, please check with your student’s teacher for the dates and times so your name will be on the visitors list for that day. Dear Utica Parents, We are already beginning to make plans for the 2018– 2019 school year. I will be working diligently with the faculty members to build learning teams for each of our classrooms for the 2018-2019 school year. We will consider learning styles, the ratio of boys and girls, student ability, and current curricular initiatives. The process will be quite involved when considering all of these factors for 500+ students. We must also consider changes in teaching staff and grade level assignments. Due to the enormity of this task, we will be following past practice and we will not honor re- quests for specific teachers. We have a wonderful teaching staff at Utica Elementary School. They are highly motivated and are master teachers. We value our parents as partners, and if there is anything you would like to share with us concerning your child’s specific learning needs, we would take your concerns into consideration. Please submit these concerns, IN WRITING, to me prior to Thursday, May 3rd. Leers should be sent to school in a sealed envelope addressed to Mrs. Gilland. (Leers will be given priority over email requests.) Any leer sub- mied aſter the May 3 deadline will not be accepted. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Mrs. Gilland Registration for the 2018-2019 school year is now open on the Greater Clark County website!!

Dear Utica Parents,

We are already beginning to make plans for the 2018– 2019 school year. I

will be working diligently with the faculty members to build learning teams for each

of our classrooms for the 2018-2019 school year. We will consider learning styles, the

ratio of boys and girls, student ability, and current curricular initiatives. The process

will be quite involved when considering all of these factors for 500+ students. We

must also consider changes in teaching staff and grade level assignments. Due to the

enormity of this task, we will be following past practice and we will not honor re-

quests for specific teachers. We have a wonderful teaching staff at Utica Elementary

School. They are highly motivated and are master teachers.

We value our parents as partners, and if there is anything you would like to share

with us concerning your child’s specific learning needs, we would take your concerns

into consideration. Please submit these concerns, IN WRITING, to me prior to

Thursday, May 3rd. Letters should be sent to school in a sealed envelope addressed to

Mrs. Gilland. (Letters will be given priority over email requests.) Any letter sub-

mitted after the May 3 deadline will not be accepted. Thank you for your patience

and understanding.

Please remember the GCCS 24 hour, fever free/vomit

rule. Your student may return to school when

symptom free for 24 hours. This helps our students

and staff remain healthy and cuts down on germs in

the building.

Our famous Wax Museum is coming up! Children

represent characters—literary or historical—and pose as

wax statues that come to life to give a little speech

when their buttons are pushed. This optional activity is

a lot of fun, so talk to your child about who they want

to represent on Thursday night, April 12. Each child

poses as a statue for only 20 minutes that night and

can spend the rest of the time pushing the buttons of

other children to bring them to life. The speeches

should be a maximum of 2 minutes in length and when

the time gets closer, you can choose what time slot

you want your child to be in--6:10-6:30, 6:40-7:00, or

7:10-7:30. I’ll see you there!

The President's Active Lifestyle Award - PALA+ is a program of the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition that promotes physical activity and good nutrition because it takes both to lead a healthy lifestyle. Students who meet the PALA+ requirements earn an award in recognition of establishing healthy habits. Physical Activity Goal Achieve the PALA+ physical activity goal by reaching the weekly minute goal. Youth ages 6-17 need to be active for at least 30 minutes each day, for 5 days per week. Healthy Eating Goal To achieve PALA+, you need to meet at least six (6) of the eight (8) weekly healthy eating goals. Put this on your refrigerator and don't lose it. PALA+ Activity Logs are to be returned to Mr. Jackson Monday, April 23rd.

you will be asked to pick up your

student in the car rider line.

Our lost and found is full of jackets,

coats, gloves and lunchboxes.
