Distinguishing Characteristics The Facilities Service Representative II is distinguished from the Facilities Service Representative I in that incumbents in the II level work with less supervision and have the skills to perform a broader range of assignments. Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities The Facilities Service Representative II reports to a Team Leader Facilities. This classification may train and guide hourly and/or student employees. Typical Functions 1. Cleans, refinishes, and maintains a variety of floor coverings. 2. Cleans restrooms and restocks paper and soap supplies. 3. Maintains building lighting by replacing incandescent bulbs and fluorescent tubes, deflector covers, and cleaning fixtures. 4. Removes debris from trash receptacles and keeps liners and receptacles clean. 5. Dusts furniture, blinds, and equipment. 6. Cleans and washes windows, walls, and doors. 1

Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities

The Facilities Service Representative II reports to a Team Leader Facilities. This classification may train and guide hourly and/or student employees.

Typical Functions

1. Cleans, refinishes, and maintains a variety of floor coverings.2. Cleans restrooms and restocks paper and soap supplies.3. Maintains building lighting by replacing incandescent bulbs and fluorescent tubes, deflector

covers, and cleaning fixtures.4. Removes debris from trash receptacles and keeps liners and receptacles clean.5. Dusts furniture, blinds, and equipment.6. Cleans and washes windows, walls, and doors.7. Removes snow and ice from all exits, entrances, fire escape exits, and handicap ramps.8. Initiates and tags work orders for repair and maintenance. 9. Assists in maintaining adequate stock of cleaning supplies for repair and maintenance. 10. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.11. Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.12. Performs all duties and tasks assigned by a supervisor or manager such as attending training and

participating in development teams. 13. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment.2. Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and standards.3. Knowledge of basic hand tools and equipment used in routine building maintenance.4. Knowledge of safe work practices.5. Ability to learn and care for an assigned area and equipment.6. Ability to operate cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, carpet extractors, burnishers, etc.7. Ability to understand chemical cleaning application and methods.8. Ability to identify maintenance problems that need the attention of repair personnel.9. Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.10. Ability to learn through observation and hands on experience.11. Ability to perform tasks without close supervision.12. Ability to work well under pressure; meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of commercial cleaning experience is required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

The position requires considerable physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including heavy lifting (50 pounds) and/or pushing and pulling of heavy objects. Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions such as crawling, kneeling, and squatting. Additionally, the work environment can include confined or narrow spaces. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
