Family Activities

4-H Achievement Night

Free for all youth and families in Utah County November 4 from 6:30-8 pm At the 4-H Office—100 E. Center St. Suite L700, Provo

We hold Achievement night once a year to recognize youth achievements in Leadership, Contests Horse, Livestock, Af-terschool and Demonstrations. This night is casual dress. Youth, parents, and leaders are invited to come and support the youth in your club and in our county! Light refreshments will be served.

Worth 1 Achievement Point.

Family Night Out—National Youth Science Day

All 4-H youth and their families October 14 from 6 to 8 pm At the Provo Library—550 N. University Ave, Provo

Join the Utah County 4-H for National Youth Science and an awe-some Family Night Out! All Bring your non-4-H friends! You will see fun technology and discover 4-H science. Dinner will be served from 6 to 6:30 pm. See you there! Worth 1 Achievement Point.

4-H Friday

Free for all youth and families in Utah County (Dinner included) November 22 from 6:30-8:30 pm At the 4-H Office—100 E. Center St. Suite L700, Provo

The entire family is invited to join us for 4-H Friday…..a night of family fun from the 4-H! Bring your neighbors and friends who are not members of 4-H to help them learn more about 4-H. Dinner will be provided and will start right at 6 pm. You won’t want to miss out on this fun evening! Teens and younger kids (Grades 3-12): Rotate through activities, fun crafts, and a service project planned and led by the Teen Council. Cloverbud Youth (Grades K-2): Stay in one room to play games planned and led by the Junior Ambassadors. Nursery (Ages 18 mo. to pre-K): Nursery run by the 4-H Leader’s Council. Adults: Get to attend workshops to learn more about our 4 -H program. Worth 1 Achievement Point.

Utah STEM Fest Family Night

Bring your family to the STEM Fest where you will have fun doing hands-on experiences with science and technology. Teen Council & Junior Ambassadors

Free for all youth grades 7-12 Check out this site for more information October 28, November 25 From 4:30 to 5:30 pm (No meeting in December because of Expansion and Review) At the 4-H office, 100 E. Center St. Suite L400 in Provo

All youth grades 7-12 are invited to join us for our Utah County 4-H Teen Council and Junior Ambassadors! We would love eve-ry youth in Utah county to come. Bring a friend and come learn leadership skills, plan activities, build friendships, and have fun! Each meeting is worth 1 4-H Achievement Point. ***We also hold a youth club at the same time for younger sib-lings of those on Teen Council. This way, parents are welcome to bring all of your kids. We do things like crafts, team building activities, play games, and have lots of fun!

Youth In Action Awards

Youth ages 16-19 Applications opened August 1 and due on October 21 at noon EST

Every 4-H’er has a story! Share your story and how 4-H has impacted your life. The Youth in Action Awards is one of the highest honors a 4-H member can achieve. This will be given to those who have gained critical life skills through 4-H and made an impact on their community. Winners will be pre-sented their award in April 2019. They will also receive a $5,000 scholarship for college. Register online at the National 4-H Website.

State Ambassador Application Due

Due November 29 at the Utah State 4-H Office Youth ages 16-19 (not in college) are invited to apply to be a Utah State Ambassador for the 4-H. This is a great leadership opportunity for all youth. Please, check out the Utah State website for more information or talk to Jolene at 801-851-8473.

Teen & Leader Council Expansion and Review

Free for all youth grades 9-12 and leaders council December 9- From 4:30 to 6 pm Location TBA

All youth on the teen council, livestock ambassadors, county ambassa-dors, horse ambassadors and Leader’s Council are invited to join us for our Expansion and Review. We hold this event once a year to review our program and discuss ways to help 4-H grow. You will be eating dinner, so come hungry! Worth 1 Achievement Point.

3D Printing “Jack-o-Lantern”

Get started in 3D printing with this simple Halloween project. We'll cover the basics of design in Tinkercad to help participants create their own 1.5" jack-o'-lanterns, which will be printed and ready for pickup the following day. Worth 1 Achievement Point.

This is an event you won’t want to miss. Anyone is invited to attend! This is a great way for youth to gain hands-on experience presenting and speaking. Topics include: *How to write a speech , Presentation techniques, Impromptu & prepared speech, Giving a demonstration Teens and volunteers could also take the ideas learned and come back and run a camp or event in your own county. We are using the Discover 4-H Public Speaking curriculum as a guide. Worth 1 Achievement Point.

New 4-H Enrollment Age Division Classifications Utah 4-H has decided to change 4-H age guidelines starting September 1st

2019. Below are the new guidelines. ———————————-

Beginning in 2019, the Utah 4-H year will begin on September 1st and end on August 31st. Utah 4-H membership will be based on a child’s age as of Sep-

tember 1st. Youth are eligible to participate in 4-H between the ages of 8 and 18. Select Cloverbud Projects available for youth who are 5 on September 1st.

4-H Classifications

Cloverbud 4-H Members—Age 5 through 7 Junior 4-H Members—Age 8 through 10

Intermediate 4-H Members—Age 11 through 13 Senior 4-H Members—Age 14 through 18

Youth who have graduated from High School may participate in all activities the summer following graduation and compete in all events, as long as they

are under 19 on September 1st.

Portfolio Judges Needed

Adult Volunteers and Leaders October 15 - From 9:30 am to 2 pm At the Salt Lake County 4-H office—we will carpool together

Come and help judge portfolio’s. No experience is necessary. It is a great experi-ence for anyone wanting to learn more about portfolio’s. Lunch will be provided. If interested call 801-851-8470. Thank you for your help!
