USRBC-Supported Sponsorship Opportunities Capturing the Gilded Age: John Singer Sargent and Valentin Serov The USRBC would like to inform you of the opportunity to sponsor an exhibit which explores the similarities between the works of John Singer Sargent and Valentin Serov. The purpose of the exhibit is to examine processes of patronage and networks of artistic exchange experienced by the artists, and their respective contributions to the evolution of American and Russian art. For more information on sponsorship opportunities and further details about the project itself, please contact: Anna Winestein Executive Director Ballets Russes Cultural Partnership Boston University College of Communication 640 Commonwealth Avenue Boston MA 02215, USA [email protected] Sv. Nikolai Monument Project In the spirit of celebrating the long history of cooperation between the United States and Russia, the USRBC would like to inform you of an opportunity to be part of the development of a monument to the schooner Sv. Nikolai in Washington State. In 1808 The Russian-American Company schooner Sv. Nikolai set sail from Sitka, Alaska with orders to explore the south coast of Vancouver Island and, if possible, discover a site for a permanent Russian outpost in what is now Washington State. The ship was forced aground just north of the Quileute River by heavy seas. While the 21 men and three women aboard survived, some would be captured and killed by natives. Two years later, 13 survivors were rescued by the payment of ransom by an American sea captain exploring the area. A group of volunteers, led by the Association of Washington Generals, is planning to build an interpretive monument to this early example of U.S.-Russian interaction, as a reminder of the history our two countries share. A site has been selected in Olympic National Park and plans have been drafted but the Association needs further funding, in the amount of $120,000 to complete the project. The Association is accepting sponsorships in any denomination. For more invitation or to sponsor, please visit the Sv. Nikolai Monument website, http://nikolaishipwreck.com/Home.html, or contact: The Association of Washington Generals P.O. Sv. Nikolai Monument Project

In the spirit of celebrating the long history of cooperation between the United States and Russia, the USRBC would like to inform you of an opportunity to be part of the development of a monument to the schooner Sv.
