Using Twitter Clients to Participate in Twitter Chats

• Participating in Twitter Chats is a great way to connect to
experts and practicing
professionals, and learn
better, next level practices
• Selecting and utilizing the right tools help make a great
chat experience
• This quick tutorial shows some
best practices and strategies
for using two Twitter clients,
Hootsuite and Tweetdeck, to
participate in chats
Both tools enable the user to:
• View different columns of
information
• Single in on Twitter chats and
hashtags
Hootsuite
• Set up your Hootsuite account
• Columns for Mentions, DM and your Home Feed
are automatically set up for you
• Selecting ‘+Add Stream’, enables you to add new
columns for preset streams, Searches [this is where
you add hashtags] and search for keywords and
lists you have made]
Tweetdeck
• Set up your Tweetdeck account
• Columns for Mentions, DM and your Home Feed
are automatically set up for you
• Selecting ‘+’ Button enables you to add new
columns for preset streams
• ‘Search’ is where you add hashtags
Reorganize Your Columns
• Rearrange your columns so that you can view
your DMs, Mentions and the Hashtag Search on
the screen at the same time
• Seeing this information simultaneously will help
your chat experience
Reorganize Your Columns - Tweetdeck
• After you have created your columns, simply grab
the column header and position it where you would
like to place it
Reorganize Your Columns - Hootsuite
• After you have created your columns, select the
drop down menu
• From here you will get the option to move columns
either left or right imply grab the column header
and position it where you would like to place it
• Managing your inflow of information helps your learning and absorption
• You can always review, slow, or stop the flow of information by using the tracking arrow to the right
