description

Why are Social Innovation, Design, and Change Labs emerging as high impact strategies for foundation, government and corporate funders? The social and environmental challenges of our times are forcing governments, businesses and charities to accelerate the shift from ameliorating symptoms to addressing root causes and systems. A promising pathway to do this is through a Lab. Labs provide a structured process, enable deep multi-stakeholder collaboration — often cross-sectoral — and a creative, “safe space” for risk taking, experimentation, prototyping and scaling. What are the implications for funders as they engage and align institutions, people, ideas and resources? What are the things funders need to know when contemplating a Lab-centric social change strategy?
