The 39th International Congress on Assessment Center Methods

Page 2: Using Multiple Assessment Instruments for a Sharper Leadership … · 2015-09-04 · Using Behavior-Level Assessment Techniques, Job Analysis Data, and Multi-Source Performance Ratings

Five things you’ll take away from the 39th International Congress:1. Groundbreaking research

in assessment center methodology

2. Real-world application of assessment center methodology

3. When and where to add complementary tools to your assessment center

4. Access to the industry’s top thought leaders, academics, and practi-tioners

5. Best practices for transforming great ideas into meaningful results

SINCE OUR INCEPTION, the International Congress has remained committed to a singular mission—strengthening assessment center methodology and outcomes. To that end, we’ve looked not only to improve the accuracy and reliability of results, but also to enhance the experience for participants. New tools and technologies have helped achieve these goals, but we can still do more…and see more.

At this congress, we will add a new issue: How to best combine data from observing job-related simulations with data from personality instruments, 360° surveys, behavioral interviews, and cognitive tests. We will explore if and how these diverse insights should be combined and the impact of various models on the reliability and validity of assessment center diag-

noses and judgments.

General SessionsShould non-simulations be an integral part of assessment (results reviewed by all assessors) or should non-simu-lations be treated as separate information sources not assessed in assessment centers but added to assessment center results. William C. Byham, Ph.D., Development Dimensions International (DDI), United States

Dr. Byham will set the theme for this year’s International Congress with his opening message to attendees. He will share how the use of multiple assessment methods has evolved over the last 50 years. He will also discuss using multiple methods within an assessment center and their reliability and validity.

Evan will present on the largest-ever compilation of executive-level assessment center data, drawing on the most recent 10 years of DDI’s executive assessment center program. The database spans over 30,000 candidates for operational, strategic, and CEO-level roles within 800 organizations. The scope, job levels, and duration of this assessment program, including candidates from 35 countries and 12 industries, provides a rare and unique opportunity to deeply explore trends in assessment scores that would not otherwise be detectable through smaller-scale research efforts.
