Faizel MohidinEditor and Publisher of Using Mind Maps Magazine Maximizing your Success at work, in business, in your education and in your personal life.

I ’ve been a practicing Mind Mapper for over two decades, yet I learn something new from the contributing authors with

every issue. By simply collating and editing the magazine, I learn something new.

But, then again, this shouldn’t surprise me. The best way to learn is in small chunks over a period of time. An hour a day, or even a week, is better than five hours, one day a month.

So, let’s take a quick look at this issue, and what you can learn.

Roger’s tips on being more efficient, and tips on note taking with your Mind Mapping Software by Chuck Frey and MindMesiter, provide simple, yet effective advice that could make a huge difference in your life.

Mind Manager was the first Mind Mapping Software I used and it’s a great honour, and privilege, to provide a Q&A with Scott Raskin, the CEO of MindJet, the producers of MindManager. (He is also the handsome guy on this month’s cover!) He provides some great insights into where Mind Mapping and MindJet are going.

As a life coach and Mind Mapper, Adam Sicinski offers great advice on making you more successful. Have a look at the qualities that are typical of a successful person and see how you compare. This month’s article includes a free Mind Map overview of his article, which serves as a guide, and a memory aid, to the contents. Try reading the article in conjunction with the Mind Map.

Tarek Fahmy is a licensed Buzan instructor (Tony Buzan invented Mind Mapping, in case you didn’t know) and gives a great overview of a simple tool to help you better understand your customers with an accompanying Mind Map.

Editor’s Note

The magazine is doing for me, exactly what it could do for you, making me a better Mind Mapper over time, by delivering content bit-by-bit, month-by-month. It’s the art of learning without learning (adapted from Bruce Lee’s quote: “The art of fighting without fighting” from “Enter The Dragon”).

A monthly subscription is extremely affordable and could make you more successful at work, in your business, in your learning, and in your personal life by giving you access to tips, tools, techniques, resources and opinions of leading Mind Mapping Experts. One tip could pay for year’s subscription…

Please feel free to submit any suggestions, or requests, that could make the magazine a better experience and help build a better, stronger and collaborative Mind Mapping Community. You can use the email address on the last page, or our Website Contact Form.

Meet the Experts

Q&A with Mindjet CEO Scott Raskin

M indjet, providers of the first software platform with the

capability to drive repeatable business innovation and productivity at scale, is committed to enterprise innovation excellence. Millions of people, as well as 83% of the Fortune 100, use Mindjet’s enterprise-ready innovation management and productivity suite, featuring their MindManager mind mapping software and SpigitEngage for enterprise innovation.

We sat down with Mindjet CEO Scott Raskin to discuss what’s happening in the mind mapping space, his goals and aspirations for Mindjet, and the future of their flagship mind mapping software product, MindManager.

Q: Tell us about your journey with Mindjet, and specifically the evolution of the MindManager mind mapping product. SR: Mindjet has a rich history that dates back to the mid-90’s when the founders released its first product, MindMan 1.0, which was the

Meet the Experts

precursor to MindManager and the very first software application providing individuals a way to mind map virtually. In 2001, the founders identified an opportunity to marry the proven benefits of mind mapping techniques with the reusability, broad applicability, and ease of use of a software package -- thereby resulting in the Mindjet we have today.

Since the founding of the company, our goal for MindManager has remained unchanged, and we’re dedicated to providing the world’s best mind mapping software to business users. In a single, uniquely powerful manner, MindManager facilitates more rapid association of interrelationships and consumption of complex data sets better than any other software on the market. Over the years, we have invested tens of millions of dollars to improve the usability, extend its capabilities, and give users better ways to capture their ideas, brainstorm, share, plan projects, take action on their ideas, and track progress.

Furthermore, we acquired the enterprise cloud software company Spigit at the end of last year, and launched a new division within Mindjet that’s focused on providing software to help our enterprise customers be more innovative through ideation crowdsourcing. The SpigitEngage platform facilitates large groups, or social communities, to brainstorm ideas and find the best solutions to specific business challenges.

Q: How does mind mapping software -- MindManager specifically -- bring about new ways to create, deliver, and capture value for businesses? How does it benefit the individual user versus the enterprise customer?SR: MindManager delivers value by allowing people to be more creative, capture ideas, and deliver on projects more effectively. And, unlike a lot of other productivity software, MindManager isn’t a one-trick-pony. It’s not just for meetings,
