Placement & Assessment Resources

You can access several types of assessment with SRA Spelling Mastery. Placement Tests determine which level is appropriate for a student or whether that student should be tested for placement in another level. Criterion Tests serve to measure how well students have mastered what has been taught. Weekly Spelling Tests are not built into Levels A and B Spelling Mastery lessons; however, ten-word lists are provided in the Optional Weekly Tests document. (Figure 8)

Additional Resources

You can access Homonyms, Five-Lesson Point Summaries, and a Super Speller Certificate by choosing Additional Resources under the Resource Library bar. (Figure 12) Homonyms—pairs of words that sound alike—lists the definitions and provides a context sentence so that students will not confuse words such as write and right. Five-Lesson Point Summaries are for students to record their performance on weekly tests. Students also record their 30-Lesson Totals. A Super Speller Certificate may be awarded to students whose 30-Lesson Total is 138 or higher.
