A little history about the GR-1

TheideaoftheGR-1cameup4yearsago,whenourfriendErwinTuijl,fromtheband“PocketKnifeArmy”,broughtuptheideaofahardwaregranularsynthesizer.

PietervanderMeer,KoenPeppingandJasperAndrearepresentingtheTastyChipsTeam

(2017),tookontheideaandturneditintoreality.

Afteralotofbrainstormsessions,Hardwarerevisions,testsessions,hardworkanddedicationbyourteam,theGR-1GranularSynthesizerwasborn.

Welovethisthingandweinvestedalotintobuildingit.Wehopeyouwillenjoyandlovethe

GR-1asmuchaswedo!

In2018and2019manynewfeatureslikelivesamplingandmultitimbralitywereadded,andaswewritethisitisstillbeingimproved.

Quick start guide TogetyourGR-1GranularSynthesizerupandrunning(standalone),youcansimplyconnectyourheadphoneandfollowthenextsteps:

1. ConnecttheadapterthatcamewithyourGR-1totheDCconnectoratthebackofyourGR-1.UseyourownIEC-60230C13/C14powerlead[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEC_60320].Turnonthepowerswitch(seefigurebelow).Thedisplayandbuttonsshouldnowlightup.

2. Pressthe“play”button,asinglevoicewillnowplayconstantlyand“bank”button1willlightup,indicatingvoice1of4isplaying.Theother3“bank”buttonswilltriggervoice3-4toplay.Whentheshiftbuttonislit,theADSRsliderswillnowfunctionaspitchcontrolsforthe4voices,makingitpossibletoplaychordsanddrones.Seefigurebelow.
