Experian IntactPure and simple data cleansingA step by step user guide

In today’s service-led and increasingly competitive times,

Experian Intact provides a user-friendly online data

cleansing service for B2C organisations. Users have

24/7 online access to Experian Intact and do not need

to have any specific technical knowledge of data

processing/cleansing or databases. The service can be

accessed directly from the user’s desktop using the

internet and does not require system configuration or

set-up in advance.

Your step by step user guide

Registration

To enable you to start using Experian Intact you need to

register your user details first.

Complete the user details on the registration page on

the Experian Intact website and we will then send you an

email confirming your login user name and password.

Start using Intact

Go to the main home page on the website and click

on the login box on the right hand side of the page.

Enter your username and password and the main

menu page will now appear showing the 5 simple

steps to cleaner data.

Just like internet banking everything you do from

here is totally secure; nobody else can see or access

your data.

This booklet will guide you through Experian Intact's five

simple steps to online data cleansing.

Step 1. Submit file

Select the file from your computer that you wish to clean

by clicking on the browse button. We will then ask you a

few simple questions about your file. Click NEXT and

Intact will begin the secure file transfer. At this point,

a screen will appear that illustrates the progress of your file

transfer to Experian Intact. Whilst this is happening you are

not able to progress onto the next screen.

Give your job a name, check your email address is correct

and then click NEXT. When a confirmation message

appears, simply click OK.

Once the file has been received by Experian Intact,

you will receive an email detailing the next stage

of the process.

Step 2. Define data

Once you have received the email from Experian Intact confirming

that your file has been transferred successfully, click on the link

within the email or go back to the Experian Intact home page and

log into Experian Intact as per the previous instructions.

Once you are in the Experian Intact main menu, click on step 2

‘Define Data’ and select the relevant job name.

Experian Intact may have attempted to locate the key name,

address and telephone details within your file. In this instance,

please check that Experian Intact has identified these correctly.

If any are incorrect you can change them by selecting fields from

the drop down lists.

For example, you can specify whether the name details on your

file are all contained within one field or separated out into

multiple fields.

If Experian Intact has not defined where the key contact elements

are within the file, please allocate the name, address and

telephone number elements to fields using the drop down lists.

If you have telephone numbers as well, allocate these fields to the

correct drop down boxes as you did for the name and address

information. When you have completed this information, click on

the NEXT button. This final page will show the list of data fields

that will not be used as part of the Experian Intact data cleaning

process. Check that these are ok and click NEXT.

You have now finished defining how your data looks.

Don’t worry, although these fields are not used as part of the

data cleaning process, they will be returned back to you on the

cleansed file.

Experian Intact Audit

Step 3. Review your audit

You can expect to receive an email from Experian

Intact containing your data audit once processing is

complete. This email will provide you with useful

information about the quality of your data, and

provides you with the opportunity to review the

results and decide which services you should

apply to your file.

Step 4. Select services

Now that you have reviewed the information within the

data audit, you can select which services you wish to

apply to your data.

Login to the Experian Intact service and click on Step 4

‘Select services’ on the main menu page. First you

need to decide which type of file you would like

Experian Intact to return to you:

• Net File

• Mail File

• All File

Most users select the NET file option.

Please select whether you wish to purchase the

Postaim appending service or the data cleansing

service. Click on refresh costs and the page will

update to display the total charges relating to the

services that you have selected.

This stage provides you withinformation regarding thequality of the data withinyour file. This information isall free of charge.

Don’t worry if you download yourcleansed file and realise that youhave selected the incorrectformat, you have the option todownload the cleansed file in adifferent format within 7 days ofthe data cleansing process

Step 5. Download file

Finally you just need to specify the type of file that you

want Experian Intact to return to you.

Experian Intact will return a text file, which is .ZIP

compressed for speed. You can also choose to

password protect your file at this stage.

Click NEXT when you are happy with your download

file settings. You will now see the total cost. If any of

the details are incorrect use the BACK button to

change them.

When you are happy, click FINISH. Experian Intact will

then start to create your cleansed file in the format

that you have selected.

Once Experian Intact has created your output file, you

will receive an email titled ‘download ready for

retrieval’. To download your cleansed file click on the

link in the email or login and select step 5 ‘Download

cleansed file’ from the main menu.

Select the cleansed file for the job that you want

to download.

How to pay

Only at this stage will you be asked to

enter your payment details. Payment is

usually by credit card. However, if you

want to open an account and be invoiced

every month, please call +353 1 6614808.

You will now be able to see your results by

either opening the file or downloading it

to your computer.

Job history and current status

Check the status of your current jobs, and

view the Job history of completed jobs by

clicking on the Job history and current

status option.

Clean

Verify and update contact information such as

name and address to ensure personal information

is complete and accurate, and that direct

marketing communications are deliverable.

Validate

Validate that an individual is present at an address

and telephone contact details are correct to ensure

that your direct marketing campaigns reach the

intended recipient.

Suppress

Identify and remove individuals/businesses that cannot

or will not respond, thereby reducing wasted mailing

costs and avoiding causing consumer annoyance.

Enhance

Use additional demographic, lifestyle and business

information to gain a better insight into consumer

behaviour and ensure your communication is relevant.
