User Fees andGovernment ChargesFISCAL YEAR 2011–2012

The Government of Nova Scotia will be increasing most user fees and government charges by 2.0 per cent in 2011–2012. The 2.0 per cent increase is tied to the average Consumer Price Index increase for the past two years. Aside from this general increase, some departments have chosen to increase a few of their fees by more than 2.0 per cent to enhance cost recovery or for reasons of convenience pricing.

The last government-wide increase to user fees and governmentcharges was in April 2009. The current increases will provide additional revenue to help cover the overall rising costs of government programs and services.

Most fees will increase on April 1, 2011. Some fees will increaseon dates determined by the individual departments. This document summarizes and lists the various fees and charges and the revenue impact by department. The fee listing is provided for the convenience of readers. Where accuracy is critical please contact the department responsible for the fee or official regulatory and legislative sources.
