Host Enters Host

What’s up, friends? How is everyone doing? (Pause for response.) That’s awesome! My name is [Host’s name], and I’m happy to welcome you to the Way Station, the coolest place on planet earth. And do you know what makes the Way Station the coolest place on the earth? (Point to kids.) You, you, you, and definitely you. In fact, ALL of you make this the coolest place on the earth!

• You came at just the right time because we’re in our series, “Use it or Lose It”.

• The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. So, whatever we have really belongs to God. Because we know everything belongs to God, WE SHOULD TAKE CARE OF GOD’S STUFF. And one of the best ways to take care of God’s stuff is by using it the way God would want it to be used.

• In fact, there is a word for this, and it’s called Stewardship. Let’s go over it together!

UseIt_Stewardship_Slide

Stewardship is taking care of what you have because it all belongs to God! • Our memory verse for this series talks about that too! Check it out!

UseIt_Memory Verse_Slide

Say it with me: Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much...

Luke 16:10a

• Did you get that? The Bible uses the word “trusted!” God trusts us with the things He’s given us!

• What are some things that God has given us? (Wait for response) • Yup. And some things we may not have even realized that He’s given

us are time, love, friendship, and best of all, forgiveness!

UseIt_Game Everybody look to the left. (Point to their left.) Now everybody look to the right. (Point to their right.) Everything you saw, and everything you see now all belongs to God.

Oh yeah, that’s our game-time music! I love a good game, and today’s is extra fun! I need two small group leaders to come onstage! (Choose two) And I’m going to need 2 kids from each of their small groups (So you’ll have 2 teams of 3 people). Here’s how we’re going to play today. Each small group leader will have a bucket of fun props and costumes a few feet away from them. (To kids) You have 90 seconds to use your things wisely. And by “use your things wisely” I mean you have to dress up your small group leader using the costumes and props in the bucket. Think through who you are dressing them to be and what they do. You can use a real job or make one up. Just be able to explain it to the audience. You have to run back and forth from the bucket to your leader as you dress them. Use your time and items wisely! Let’s play!

UseIt_90 Sec Timer_Video UseIt_Logo_Slide

Okay, okay. Let’s meet our new and improved small group leaders. Who do we have?

Allow the kids to introduce their leaders with their new identities.

Okay, audience, show me by the sound of your applause who used their things best.

• Let’s hear it for group one. (Pause for applause.) • Now, let’s hear it for group two. (Pause for applause.) • Group one. (Pause for applause.) Group two. (Pause for applause.)

Both groups used their things well, but [SGL’s name]’s group is the winner! (Award prize to winning group) You guys can have a seat.

UseIt_Worship I sure had fun watching those groups use their things wisely. Let’s use our voices wisely and stand up to sing praises to our great God! Now we learned this song last week, but let’s go over it with the motions one more time!

UseIt_Journey of a lifetime_Instruction Video UseIt_Everything I Need_Worship Video UseIt_Offering_Slide

I love how our last song reminds us that God gives us everything we need. That’s why we should take care of the gifts God has given us. And one of those gifts is money. Now you may not have a job or an allowance, but God loves a cheerful giver. So whenever you do get a few bucks, you can give back to God through your offering. And offering is part of worship. If anyone has offering, please place it in (Indicate area).

All right everyone, let’s check in with Justin and the “Use it or Lose it” game. UseIt_Wk 2_Intro_Video

UseIt_Logo_Slide The reason Jesus told this story was because He wanted everyone to know—including you—that anything you’re given is from the boss. You know who the boss is? That’s right: God. And God wants us to use the things He’s given us wisely!

• All of this brings us to our Bottom Line for today!

UseIt_Wk 2_Bottom Line_Slide

Say it with me…Use your things wisely!

• It may be easy to look at the master’s response to the last servant and think that he was being a little harsh.

• But here’s the deal—the boss trusted his servants with a great responsibility. He was going away, and he asked the servants to care for his money and to use it wisely.

• Two servants made wise choices with what was entrusted to them, and in the end, their boss rewarded them for it. The third servant, however, didn’t really show much initiative for what his master gave him. He just stuck it in a hole and waited for his master to return. And because he did not make wise choices, the master made sure that he would not be trusted with his property again.

• When God trusts us, He trusts us with more than just things. It may be money we have, or the stuff we own, or the time we have, or the gifts and talents God has given us. All of these “things” have the potential in one way or another of being used to bring honor to God and for His kingdom

UseIt_Wk 2_Key Question_Slide

So, I have a question for you: How can you best use your things? (Allow responses)

• You’ve got it! But it’s one thing to say we should use our things wisely, and it’s another thing to actually do it. That takes some work. How about we pray and ask God for some help to know how to use our things wisely? Let’s pray!

God, You have given us so many things to be thankful for: our family, our friends, our beds, and our toys. God, help us to look at all these things like they belong to You, because they do! Help us to share, to be generous,

Page 5: UseIt Wk2 Elem LG...UseIt_Wk 2_Key Question_Slide So, I have a question for you: How can you best use your things? (Allow responses) • You’ve got it! But it’s one thing to say

and to be responsible. Help us to use our things wisely and to be good stewards. Amen UseIt_Announcements

UseIt_October Family Mission_Slide Another way you can use the things God has blessed you with wisely is by sharing with others!

Only a couple of weeks remain for our Family Mission – Canned Collection! And just to see how much we’ve collected, I want anyone who has a can to come up and place it on the stage! (Wait for response)

• Nice! What do you guys think? Can we collect even more cans by the end of the month? (Wait for response)

• I think so! So bring in those cans of CRANBERRIES AND CORN to be distributed to families in need in our community! The food will be added to meal boxes that will be given out during our Thanksgiving food distribution on November 18.

You may have noticed our super cool candy collection bin! But what is it for? Check this out!

UseIt_Candy/Fall Frenzy_Video UseIt_Fall Frenzy_Slide

That’s right! We are starting our Candy Collection for FALL FRENZY!!! Guys, it’s going to be so much fun!

• But it will be no fun if we don’t start collecting this candy! We are challenged to bring in candy for the next 2 WEEKS! Let’s collect loads of candy so we can get loads of candy during Fall Frenzy!

• You can drop candy off in the decorated candy collection bins. And you’ll even receive an EXCLUSIVE candy collection pin! That means you can earn up to 3 pins this month!

Now listen, the candy is not just for you. We want you to invite a friend to get in on the fun, too! (Showing invite cards) So we had these special invites made so you can invite a friend to Fall Frenzy. Yes they’ll get candy, but they’ll also hear the GREATEST news ever! They’ll hear that they are not alone and that Jesus loves them very much. So give out those invites! That’s all the time we have today. Thanks for using your time wisely and coming to church today. See ya next week!
