• Illustrations have played a major role in the technical information industry since day 1.

• Their importance or focus can vary form one standard to another.

• In Aerospace and Defense they are a critical component of almost every publication

• Historically they have been expensive to produce, and represent a significant proportion of spend on a suite of technical publications
