Indonesia is Southeast Asia’s largest energy producer and consumer. The energy demand is expected to increase strongly. The National Energy Policy (Kebijakan Energi Nasional – KEN) initial projections for total energy demand were revised in December 2015 from 38Mtoe to 400 Mtoe. To supply Indonesia’s demand for power, Indonesian government plans to increase power production in Indonesia by 35 gigawatt (GW). The progress reached 47% in the mid of 2017 and predicted to finish by 2024. Indonesia aims to achieve nearly complete electri�cation of the country by 2020. The Getting Electricity indicator of EoDB (Ease of Doing Business – World Bank) for Indonesia increasing every year. Indonesia is ranked 49th rank by 2017 and reach the 38th rank by 2018.

Indonesian government seeks foreign investment in the power sector by mandating PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) to o�er guaranteed power purchase agreements (PPAs) for independent power producers (IPPs) as part of its supply portfolio. The govern-ment projects that IPPs will construct nearly 60% of the power capacity in the latest government programme to add these 35 GW of power.

PLN has released its target for the development of New & Renew-able Energy in based on Electricity Supply Business Plan (Rencana Usaha Penyediaan Tenaga Listrik – the “RUPTL”) to 23% by 2026. Although realization of the development reached 12% by 2017 of total installed capacity.
