I am glad to learn that the University Business School is bringing out the Placement Brochure- 2017 for Final Placements of its second year MBA students. A strong Alumni base, well – quali�ed and experienced faculty, energetic and resourceful students, make the University Business School one of the premier departments of this University.
The University Business School has been on the forefront to impart sound management concepts enabling students to acquire the requisite management skills to prepare them for national and global careers. The focus at UBS is on the all-round development of students. Providing a sound conceptual base, the UBS emphasizes exposing students to the practical situation through industry visits, seminars and conferences. Soft skills like developing leadership qualities, interpersonal and communication skills in addition to hard skills in �nance, marketing are equally important in today's business.
The Indian economy is on a growth path and many changes are taking place that would impact the way in which organizations need to perform. Attaining a Competitive Advantage through an appropriate strategy, a renewed emphasis on technology, innovation and creativity, intrapreneurship and entrepreneurship, global outlook and an emphasis on the management and retention of talented manpower is perhaps the key to the success of a present-day business organization.

Ties and Tenets

The history of UBS is a trail of credibility that has been traced by the actions and achievements of its faculty and students. The ties between our actions and achievements remain strong as ever, and the tenets we follow ensure that the trail continues to grow.
University Business School (formerly, Department ofCommerce and Business Management) was established in 1962 and is one of the premier business schools of North India. Initially, it started with courses in commerce and then since 1968, it has been imparting quality management education. The re-christening of the Department of Commerce and Business Management as University Business School in 1995 by the Panjab University, symbolizes the recognition of completeness and maturity of the Department as a center of management education in India. The transformation from a Department to a School has given it a distinct identity as a 'School of Thought'.It is located in the heart of the City Beautiful, Chandigarh and while maintaining a distinct identity of its own, draws its academic strength and resources from Panjab University.Since its inception, UBS has consistently carved managers who are distinguished by their dynamic and professional outlook towards their chosen area of work.

L 7:00 a.m.I put off my alarm hoping to make it to class before the professor shuts the door. I grab my laptop, half eat an apple and sprint to the department.
8:00 a.m.I am the last one to enter. I put down my bag, bring out one of my many assignments and attend to my roll call as I ready myself for a 70 minutes lecture.
10:25 a.m.Phew, I rush to the Nescafe stall, pick up a coffee and fire up my laptop to complete my pre-reads for the next classes. I revise my notes forgetting about my coffee that has gone cold by now.
10:50 a.m.I struggle to find an opportunity to contribute in the next two classes amongst my ...... participative peers.
1:15 p.m.Quickly finishing my lunch at the Student Centre, I rush to the Business Club meeting to decide the fortnightly agenda for the seminars and events lined up.
4:40 p.m.And it's a wrap. But only the lectures. I check my memo, and my case study discussion session with the peers is scheduled at 5:00 p.m. We gather in the corridor and spend about 45 minutes presenting different arguments.
6:00 p.m.My phone buzzes. It's a reminder for the literary club brain storming session. The next issue of the Newsletter is due for publication in two days time.
10:00 p.m.I have two hours to finish my bit of the group assignment and present it to the rest of the group by 12:00 midnight after which I have two other assignments to work on.
2:00 a.m. I set my alarm for 7:00 a.m. hoping to wake up to another bright day at UBS.

The A.C. Joshi Library (Central library) of the Panjab University has a collection of over 6.4 lakh publications which include books, bound volumes of journals theses/ dissertations, rare books, reports, government documents, back files of newspapers, and a prized collection of 1490 manuscripts. Its collection can easily be explored through our web based Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). The Library has a subscription to about 600 current periodicals and subscribes to MathSciNet online. Access to 225 online full text journals is also provided as a part of the print journals subscription. In addition to this, it provides access to approximately 5000 online full text journals through INDEST- Consortium and UGC- INFONET.

In- House LibraryUBS also has an in- house library with more than 12,823 books,and subscriptions to over 152 journals comprising both Indian and International publications, enabling the students to find information related to all branches of management and more.
IT InfrastructureUBS brings the most modern and sophisticated technology to its campus by keeping pace with the latest trends. It has more than 50 terminals connected to high speed Internet through the Computer Centre, Panjab University, thus providing direct access to all the journals/ books available on the University Library Server. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled which provides internet access to the students for reference and communication.
National Knowledge Network Ministry of HRD, Government of India has selected PanjabUniversity as a node to be connected to National Knowledge Network (NKN) with high network bandwidth thus providing high speed connectivity to all departments through NKN.

It is a pulsating student body dedicated to securing placements for the whole batch. The students deal with all activities related to placements: from brochure design to hosting the companies visiting the campus, this cell is responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of the placement process. The club has a two-dimensional approach. One dimension focuses on skill development through periodic workshops with industry experts; the other focuses on industry connections by hosting events related to companies campus visit.

Vyavsaya 2.0
Pitch your Business idea, an intra-department competition was
organized by UBS. The competition was conducted in two stages.
In the first stage, each participating team was given one minute to
present a brief idea on an entrepreneurial venture it deemed
profitable under the current business dynamics.
Each team thus shortlisted on several criteria was given the
opportunity to present a full-fledged business plan, from setting
up of the business to the execution of daily functions. On the
judges panel were Mr. Prabhujeev Bajaj, Marketing Head, HDFC
Ltd.
Efforts of all teams were appreciated and the top three performers
were rewarded for their exceptional efforts.
Religare Finvest Ltd. Entrepreneurs facilitation
To kindle the spirit of Entrepreurship Religare, in association
with UBS, organized an event to honour fifteen distinguished
entrepreneurs . The event, graced by the presence of Mr Kavi
Arora, CEO Religare Finvest, facilitated interaction between
students and accomplished professionals from various spheres

Vyavsaya 2.0
Pitch your Business idea, an intra-department competition was
organized by UBS. The competition was conducted in two stages.
In the first stage, each participating team was given one minute to
present a brief idea on an entrepreneurial venture it deemed
profitable under the current business dynamics.
Each team thus shortlisted on several criteria was given the
opportunity to present a full-fledged business plan, from setting
up of the business to the execution of daily functions. On the
judges panel were Mr. Prabhujeev Bajaj, Marketing Head, HDFC
Ltd.
Efforts of all teams were appreciated and the top three performers
were rewarded for their exceptional efforts.
Religare Finvest Ltd. Entrepreneurs facilitation
To kindle the spirit of Entrepreurship Religare, in association
with UBS, organized an event to honour fifteen distinguished
entrepreneurs . The event, graced by the presence of Mr Kavi
Arora, CEO Religare Finvest, facilitated interaction between
students and accomplished professionals from various spheres
