Class representatives and lead pltfs object to this fee petition, arguing that Sarantakos' counsel were not instrumental in benefitting the classes by getting class counsel to reduce their fees from 33% to 30% of the settlement fund. They do confirm, however, that Sarantakos' counsel filed several objections to the proposed settlement, including arguing for a maximum of %18 for class counsel's fees. Vigorous objection to proposed class action settlements is a valuable means of keeping the settlements fair. Given the extensive fees awarded in this settlement to class counsel and the overall benefit to the process of a vigorous objection from class members, the court finds merit to the fee petition, which is GRANTED, and it is hereby ORDERED, ADJUDGED and DECREED that, subject to the conditions in the order and final judgment (especially paragraph 11) entered in this action on July 2, 2003, Nicholas M.
