Mexican Revolution By: Matt Stone From 1910-1920 was a time for the Mexicans that was wasted. The Mexican Revolution changed the Mexican life forever. A lot of lives, money, and land was last at this time. The Mexican Revolution was a bad thing because many kids fought in it, there were some gory battles, and presidents were executed. This Revolution was useless and never should have happened. The first bad thing was the kids fighting. Kids fought because they didn’t have a choice. They were forced into fighting and many lost their lives because of this. The Second bad thing that happened were the gory battles. Throughout the Revolution there were some gory battles that shouldn’t have happened. Lives and land were lost because of these. The last bad thing that happened was the execution of some presidents. The Dictator at the time was Diaz and he fled because he knew he was going to be killed. Madero was the biggest president to be executed. For the Mexicans, all these things just put them down a little more. These things never should have happened.

Mexican Revolution In conclusion, the Mexican Revolution was stupid and it was started for stupid reasons. There was no use in fighting these battles and going with this Revolution. Land, lives, and leaders were lost during this time. This was a bad time for the Mexicans and it will never be forgotten.

Philippine Insurrection By Noah Mckissick

In 1899-1902 the Philippines had an

extremely tough streak off battles vs.

the United States. The Philippine

Insurrection was of the Philippines

trying to gain independence from

Spain. Emilio Aguinaldo was a

Philippine native who helped us in

the war. Emilio still fought for their

rights to be free from Spain and tried

to get his people into America. The

Philippine Insurrection was made up

of battles won by Americans causing

many casualties and lost lives for the

Philippines

.

Commodore Dewey was a big reason

why we did so well in these battles.

Theodore Roosevelt told Dewey that

he should be ready because war was

going to happen. Dewey finally got

the okay to fire when ready by

Roosevelt and the war was basically

over then. This was a very tough

fight for the opposing side because

not one of are men were hurt or

killed. They had over 400 casualties.

Page 5: Us Daily

Hence this war a very tragic time for the Philippines and a very

positive time for the United States. This should have never

happened and I am sure the Philippines wished the same thing.

All of their deaths were not needed and we shouldn’t have

wasted are time in a useless battle.

Imperialism in China and Japan

Pro’s Japan could never win against America’s Navy so Japan surrendered. Open door policy was put in act in march of 1900. Made China very successful in building materials. Both China and Japan profited off imperialism.

Con’s By making China Imperial it caused wars just to get them were they are today. Matthew C. Perry the Commander of the U.S. Navy sent four of America’s armored ship into Edo Bay in Japan and opened Japan to be Imperial. Great Britain got control of most of China.

By forcing imperialism in both China and Japan some countries have improved because of their markets, trade, and by cheap materials.

Countries making both China and Japan imperial countries, and making their own and other countries improve.

The Panama Canal By Derik Walton

The Panama Canal is about how the U.S. interested in the canal. It also talks about panama’s revolution and building

the canal. The U.S. interest in the canal bought rights to the French canal property and equipment. John Hay gained

permanent use of the strip of the land that the canal would run through. A treaty had been made but Colombia’s

senate would not ratify it. The panama’s revolution: President Roosevelt

had a keen interest in building the canal. But the Panamanians revolutionaries were plotting to break free of

Colombian rule. Afterward a new treaty was made with panama and gave the United States complete and unending

sovereignty over a 50 mile wide canal zone.

Page 9: Us Daily

Building the Panama Canal had harsh working conditions and shortages of labor and materials hampered construction efforts. During the first month of the new work team they got stricken with malaria and yellow fever. After the malaria and yellow fever was gone more than 60 giant steam shovels bit into the land, digging out hundreds of train car loads of earth each day. They finished the canal in 1914 and the first boat to sail on the new canal was the SS Ancon. What I have learned from the U.S. interest in the canal, panama’s revolution, and building the canal was a good learning about it. It gives you a lot of good facts about how problems were caused and how the U.S. got the right to finish the panama canal.

Spanish-American War By Anna Sierra

The struggle in Cuba was horrendous Spain had complete control over everything.

Living conditions were terrible, Spain sent a general Valeriano Wevler to place

Cubans in dirty filthy camps to keep them from revolting agents Spain.

Long before the Spanish–American War the U.S was already interested in Cuba for trading purposes .

A Cuban solider named Jose Marti was exiled on the account that he lead the Cuban Revolutionary Party and flew to America. Even thought he was exiled for wanting freedom for his country he continued to proclaimed his fight for freedom. Americans took notice William Randolph Hearst publisher of the New York Journal, and Joseph of the New York World wrote about the struggle in Cuba and the U.S realized that Cuba’s situation is similar to the Civil War with Great Britain, and America decided to help.

One way the United states helped Cuba was establishing the Teller Amendment named after Senator Henry M. Taller on April 19, it said that once Cuba freed itself from Spanish rule the U.S would leave the government and control of the island to its people. By doing this Cuba gained all of its freedom back. The Teller Amendment was succeeded by the Platt Amendment introduced by Senator Orville Platt (R-Connecticut) in February 1901. It allowed the United States "the right to intervene for the preservation of Cuban independence, the maintenance of a government adequate for the protection of life, property, and individual liberty..." The Platt Amendment was finally abrogated on May 29, 1934.

In 1878, 372 American crew members were sailing the Maine, a U.S navy ship, but all of a sudden the boat begin to sink. Out of the 372 crew members that were on the Maine 260 died. Making two thirds of the men didn't make it to Havana shore in which the ship was suppose to land. The ship set sale for Havana bay to deliver soldiers and good for the troops but in a mysterious accident the Maine exploded. To this day no one knows what could have caused the ship to blow up out of nowhere, but what we do know is that we shall “Remember the Maine”
