The Dukes square off with Rhode Island Thursday at 9:30 p.m. at UCF Arena following a 7 p.m. game between UCF and Stetson. Winners meet Friday at 7 p.m. with a consolation game to follow at 9:30 p.m. JMU (6-3), winner of five of its last six games, opens against a URI squad (1-11) looking to snap an eight- game losing streak. It will be the first meeting between the two teams as Madison has never faced any of the three teams in the event. The Dukes are coming off of an up-and-down 62-57 vic- tory at George Washington on Thursday, Dec. 22. JMU shot 65 percent in the first half behind 17 points each from A.J.Davis and Humpty Hitchens, who combined to shoot 6-for-7 from the arc in the half to put the Dukes up 44-24. Madison still led 55-33 before GW held the Dukes to seven points the rest of the way and pulled as close as 58-54 with three minutes to go until JMU held on for the 62-57 win. The win was the third in a row on the road for the Dukes and the fourth in a row away from the Convocation Center. It is JMU’s longest winning streak away from the Convo since four true road wins last December and January as part of an overall nine-game winning streak. Last year, the Dukes matched a program record with 10 true road victories.
