EXT. FIELD - EVENING

A bell is tolling faintly in the distance.

Goats amongst a field, we move further until it reaches a church rooftop.

A crucifix.

We keep moving until..

EXT. COBBLESTONE PATH - CONTINUOUS

An empty road next to the field, it’s raining.

We move towards the road, and from there footsteps.

A man is walking and the road, we follow him but from above.

EXT. FOREST - NIGHT

The man walks to a forest from he continues walking then stops frozen, in between the trees there appears to be a shadow still amongst them in a human like shape.

PRIESTHello? Hello!

No answer

PRIEST (CONT’D)This is private property, I don’t care who you are or your reason for being here, you are not to be on this property do you understand?

The man becomes slightly uneasy.

PRIEST (CONT’D)You hear me!

He decides to walk up to the shadow and sees a child standing there completely still, and wet.

The priest is shocked.

PRIEST (CONT’D)Hello, are you okay?

The priest touches the child test, he feels how cold he is.

PRIEST (CONT’D)Oh poor child, are you lost, what’d you say I take you somplace warm, would you like that.

The child nods and the man nods in turn smiling.

CUT TO:

INT. HOUSE - NIGHT

PRIESTJust put your things over there.

The priest walks to the kitchen and places a pot on a stove, meanwhile the child is walking explores the house, we walks, almost knowingly, towards the bin and picks out a frame which has a picture of a woman cracked, the man notices him doing this and walks up to the child.

PRIEST (CONT’D)How did you find this? I didn’t tell you to touch anything.

The man takes the frame from the child and silently reflects over it. He then looks at a child confused and angry, the child smiles the man walks back up to the stove.

CUT TO:

INT. HOUSE - LATER

The man has placed two bowls on the table and is enojying his meal.

PRIESTEat.(Gesturing to the child)

The man continues to eat his meal ravenously not waiting for the child’s response. When finished he stands up and slaps his stomach content. The child starts laughing at the man.

PRIEST (CONT’D)What's funny?

The man reciprocates laughter as the childs laughing becomes more intense.

His face drops.

He frozen as the childs laughter erupts into a roar.

The man falls to the ground into a fit foaming at the mouth. Dead.

The child stands up and tilts his head.

EXT. HOUSE - MOMENTS LATER

Ravens squawk and are flying away from the house.

INTROCUT TO:

INT. WARD ROOM - NIGHT

Meet MARY a middle aged fair haired woman.

she is looking at a billboard checking notes.

A young nurse walks up to her

NURSELong night?

MARYYou bet.

She strips a post it note from the wall and behind her a phone rings she struggles as she holds the post it note in her mouth and rushes for the phone.

MARY (O.S.) (CONT’D)REDROCK instution, Mary speaking.Ok. Is that for Donovan, yeah that’s fine send him in.

CUT TO:

INT. WARD OFFICE - LATER

She’s feedsof the patients DONOVAN who is sat in a wheelchair, with a small spoon. He stuggles to talk well.

MARY(Placing a spoon in his mouth)

That’s it. Open wide.

DONOVAN opens his mouth for the spoon.

MARY (CONT’D)Well done.

A beat

MARY (CONT’D)(Still feeding him)

Who did you visit today?

DONOVANI saw Mandy.

MARYYeah, and how was that?

DONOVANOk. I don’t really like her though.

MARYWhy not?

DONOVANShe’s always shouting at me.

MARYIs she?

DONOVANYeah, if I don’t finish my food she yells at me.

MARYOh ok... well you know I won’t shout at you if you don’t finish your food.

DONOVANYeah.

MARYYou full?

DONOVANUh huh.

Mary takes away the spoon and puts it in the sink. She washes it she looks to her left to see a stack of other dishes labelled "FOR MITCHELL" she puts them in and starts washing them.

INT. KITCHEN-MOMENTS LATER

MARYSo what have you learnt today?

DONOVAN(O.C.) (O.C.)Not much.

MARYDid Mandy go through the algebra with you?

DONOVAN(O.C.) (O.C.)Yeah, it’s hard though.

MARYOh of course it’s hard, were the other patients there to help you?

DONOVAN(O.C.) (O.C.)Yeah, Mike showed me how to do it.

MARYSee that’s good, can’t do it on your own, it’s always better to have other people to help you out or you’ll struggle.

A beat

MARY (CONT’D)How’s the sleep going?

DONOVAN(O.C.) (O.C.)Not good.

MARYYou’re not sleeping well?

DONOVAN(O.C.) (O.C.)No.

MARYHave you been taking the pills I gave you.

DONOVAN(O.C.) (O.C.)Yeah...

MARYGood.

Mary looks at her reflection from one of the cups, she realies she's asking herself these questions, not Donovan.

MARY (CONT’D)Give me a minute.

Mary walks outside and to one of the nurses rooms

INT. CLAIRE’S OFFICE - LATER

MARYHi Claire, I was just wondering whether Donovan has been taking his sleeping pills at all?

CLAIRELet’s see..

CLAIRE a 50 year old veteran stands up and goes to the bookshelf taking out a file named “MED RECORDS” she flicks through it

CLAIRE (CONT’D)DONOVAN...here we are....no There’s no record of them. Sorry.

MARYOk. I think it’s MANDY, he doesn’t seem to like her.

CLAIREGet him to relocate then.

MARYYeah I’m thinking of talking to Ward about that. Thanks.

MARY walks out and back into the WARD OFFICE

INT. WARD OFFICE - LATER

MARYClaire told me you haven’t been taking your meds.

DONOVANShe’s lying.

MARYNo I don’t think so, why haven’t you been taking your meds DONOVAN?

DONOVANThey make me sick.

MARYHow could they make you sick if you haven’t even tried them? You NEED to take your meds if you want a good nights sleep okay?

DONOVANFine.(agitated)

MARY

Good. So you don’t forget we’re gonna go get them now alright?

She takes DONOVAN by the wheelchair and escorts him outside

EXT. HALLWAY - MOMENTS LATER

She slowly moves the wheelchair DONOVAN is in behind her we see two visitors in the background who are talking to the receptionist. Donovan becomes more agitated and starts bounching around in his seat.

MARYDonovan stop it.

Donovan puts his foot on the ground and halts the wheelchair laughing.

MARY (CONT’D)Come on you’re being childish.

One of the nurses walks past

NURSEDo you need any help?

MARYNo I’m fine.

The Nurse walks away.

MARY (CONT’D)You’re just making this more difficult for yourself.

DONOVANBlah Blah Blah!

MARYIf I have to take this in baby steps to-

Donovan slams his head back hitting her in the stomach

DONOVANStupid cow!

MARYRight!

She violently pushes the wheelchair he shakes the wheelchair throwing his head back again and again crying out, Mary stuggles to control the Wheelchair and he falls to the ground.

Mary sighs.

Mary looks behind her and notices the Head of Ward onlooking in the background he pulls his finger back. She’s in trouble. While walking urgently to him she asks one of the nurses to look after Donovan.

HEAD OF WARDOffice.

INT. OFFICE - MOMENTS LATER

Mary walks to the office and stands awkwardly

HEAD OF WARDSit.

MARYLook I’m sorry he was being difficult and-

HEAD OF WARDI don’t care, we don’t blame patients here it’s our responsiblity to keep them in check.

MARYI know but..

HEAD OF WARDYou know? This isn’t a case of knowing Mary, we give 100% to our patients, this establishment was built on the foundation of providing the best possible quality of care to our patients and do you think that the people who built this institution would accept this level of conduct.

HEAD OF WARDExactly, I’ve put a lot of trust in my staff, in You to ensure that that quality is upheld, I don’t want to have to make a decision neither of us would like. You're nice and it's good to be nice, but I'm not bending the rules for you, you can't sweet talk yourself out of your own actions. Again.

Mary becomes worred as she knows what he’s talking about

MARYI understand.

HEAD OF WARDGood. So you’re going to file a report on the incident then you’ll return to me and we’ll discuss this further.

MARYFurther?

HEAD OF WARDThis isn’t the first time Mary and you know that.

INT. HALLWAY - MOMENTS LATER

Mary walks out visibly stressed DONOVAN is gone.

INT. MARY’S OFFICE - NIGHT

Mary is head in paperwork writing the Report for the incident with Donovan in comes MARCO a well built young security guard with a cup of coffee.

MARCOHang in there.

MARYI’ll try

MARCO hands her coffee

MARY (CONT’D)How’d you know I’d need coffee?

MARCOIt’s in my job description

A beat

MARCO (CONT’D)I saw your little incident.

MARYOh yes(gesturing to security cameras)

Eyes all over the place.I’d prefer to call it accident.

MARCOSharp gave it too you huh?

MARYYou bet(Imitating Head of Ward)

THIS ESTABLISHMENT WAS BASED ON THE FOUNDATIONS OF RESPONSIBILITY IT IS PARAMOUNT THAT YOU REMEMBER THAT

They both laugh

MARY (CONT’D)Actually could I take a look at those security tapes? Evidence.(Shows him report)

MARCOSure.

INT. SECURITY ROOM

MARCO and MARY are sat on two chairs over a computer which has loaded up “RECENT CAPTURE”

MARCOSo what are we looking for miss?

MARYA frustrated, stressed young woman making an absolute mess of herself.

MARCOAlright, here we go

Screen shows MARCO scrubbing through the video stopping randomly at certain frames the first of which is

MARY

Screen shows the incident between Donovan and Mary

MARYOkay..

Mary is a sad seeing herself so useless.

MARY (CONT’D)So can you save that on a DVD or something?

MARCOSure.

Marco scrubs through the video attempting to compile it

(CONT’D)

INT. SECURITY ROOM - LATER

OFFICERHere we go.

The computer screen shows the incident on the screen MARCO scrubs through it and edits.

OFFICER (CONT’D)I'll print you a copy.

MARCO continues scrubbing through the video, it stops apparently at random at certain places.

One of them a ward hall standing there a child around 4 feet.

MARCO pauses and zooms in the picture becoming more blurry

OFFICER (CONT’D)Mary come take a look at this.

Mary comes towards the computer screen

OFFICER (CONT’D)We didn't have any child visitors today did we?

MARYNot to my knowledge. What's the timestamp?

OFFICERAround three thirty.

MARYI should go check it out.

OFFICERYou sure, my shift's up in twenty it'd make sense-

MARYIts fine, I don't wanna give Sharp anymore to complain about.

Mary goes to the exit

OFFICER (CONT’D)Mary.

Mary looks back

OFFICER (CONT’D)You forgot the tape.

MARYOh thanks.

Mary's walking past patient rooms it's late and she's turning off the lights in each ward she enters one of the ward rooms #2938

THE SOUND OF RATTLING AND SCREAMING BELLS GOING OFF

MARY(V.O.) (V.O.)ON IT!

Mary's carrying four bowls of soul in her hand, she walks into Ward Room

INT. WARD #2939

She walks to the serving desk where a patient is waiting eagrerly

MARYHere you go

She places the bowl down hurriedly and walks out

MARYCareful it's hot.

CUT TO:

We just see her place it on the table

CUT TO:

INT. WARD HALL

Mary's rushing to give her next bowl, the Head of Ward is observing her from a distance smiling, she walks up to him as he's standing at a desk.

HEAD OF WARDKeep it up, it's good to see you handling things well.

MARYYeah well, responsibility right.

The Head of Ward simply smiles.

His beeper in his pocket goes off.

NURSE(V.O.) (V.O.)(Muffled)

Sir we've got in incident incident on Red Wing

HEAD OF WARDWhat level is it?

NURSE(V.O.) (V.O.)Level 3.

MARYThere was a break out?

The Head of Ward doesn't respond instead his expression becomes more and more worried, a speaker on the wall blares

VOICE(V.O.) (V.O.)There is an extrusion on Level 4. Report.

The Voiceover repeats incessantly

MARYWho is it?

HEAD OF WARD is already running, quickly out of site of MARY

She looks towards the Speaker and decides to follow as she walks through the Ward Hall in one of the rooms out of focus we see a child standing there for a moment.

CUT TO:

INT. RED WING WARD HALL- MOMENTS LATER

The sprinklers are spraying all over the ward the sound of agitated patients louder than ever.

Mary, wet, runs through the hall Nurses are apparently fleeing from the scene Mary catches one of them

MARYWhat's going on?

The Nurse doesn't respond, Mary continues running.

INT. RED WING JUNCTION PATH- MOMENTS LATER

MARY stands for a while in the junction listening to locate the sound, the western junction is producing the most sound; she runs towards it she sees a sign in the hall "HOSPITAL" and enters

INT. HOSPITAL- MOMENTS LATER

DONOVAN(O.C.) (O.C.)I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING! GET OFF ME!

A red light is flashing illuminating the room, Donovan is laying on he ground shaking violently in a pool of blood. Handcuffed. To the right on him is a guard on the ground. Dead. As Mary enters the Head of Ward looks at her. She's in worse than 'trouble' She doesn't bother speaking, she just looks at the body, a group of guards escort DONOVAN away.

A forensics team is taking photos and the Head of Ward exits to speak to the several investigators outside.

From the back door we see a man enter, wearing a black suit. THE DOCTOR. He simply walks up to the body and we hear the all too familiar sound of the screwdriver.

THE DOCTORIt wasn't your patient.

MARYI'm sorry?

THE DOCTORThis man wasn't murdered. And the blood(indicating the bloody ground)

Isn't his.

MARYThen who's is it?

THE DOCTORI don't know. That's always fun.The pressure on his brain was enormous, but this wasn't spontaneous..(Talking to himself)

The Doctor hands her the screwdriver she takes it apprehensively.

MARYWhat is this?

THE DOCTOR(Whilst examining the brain)

It's a sonic device capable of penetrating- solid matter.

MARYBut how did he escape, wards are locked 24/7

THE DOCTORThis isn't my hospital.

MARYIt's not mine either but as a Nurse-

THE DOCTORI don't work here either.

MARYSo are you part of the CSI or..

The Doctor scoffs

THE DOCTORI'm a Doctor.

MARYAlright, does The Doctor have a name?

THE DOCTORNo.

Mary laughs not taking him seriously.

MARYOk then Doctor, my name's -

THE DOCTORMary. Your names mary.

She gets a little pissed off, she doesn't like people playing cat and mouse with her, she looks at her name tag knowing that's where he read it off of.

MARYMary Mandleson.

The Doctor opens his hand and Mary passes him back the screwdriver.

THE DOCTORHas there been any strange activity here in the past few months?

MARYWell it's always strange.

THE DOCTORHow so?

MARYThis is a psychiatric hospital.

THE DOCTORYou're not useful at all are you.

The Doctor stands up and walks out, Mary walks up to the body and sees the guard, peaceful, she sees a crucifix hanging out of his pocket. Bloodied. Behind her there is a shadow around six feet. The child.

CUT TO:

HEAD OF WARD(V.O.) We're gonna have to transfer.

INT. HEAD OF WARD ROOM

HEAD OF WARDDonovan's door was unlocked from the outside, we can't entertain the possibility of something like that happening agian and it posed a grave security risk to the hospital. I'd also like you to take a temporary break

We move to see Mary in the Ward Room with the Head of Ward

MARYA break?

HEAD OF WARDYou heard correctly. I feel that it would be best for your own health and well being if you were to-

MARYThis isn't about my well being.

MARYYou think that I was involved somehow.

HEAD OF WARDIn no way would I imply something like that.(A beat)

Myself and a confederate of other nurses have decided that your own good it would be best-

MARYIt was Mandy wasn't it, she reported me.

HEAD OF WARDI'm not in a position to discuss that information.

Mary sighs

MARY

(A beat)So what's gonna happen to Donovan?

HEAD OF WARDHe'll have to be moved to Intensive for as long as the case is running, from their it's really the courts decision.

MARYI don't want him moved to intensive.

HEAD OF WARDI'm sorry but guidelines dictate that-

MARYThere's no evidence that he was involved.

HEAD OF WARDAnd how can you make that claim?

MARYBecause I-

The Head of Ward analyses her intensely.

HEAD OF WARDMary is something wrong?

MARYNo.

Head of Ward gives her a curious look

MARY (CONT’D)What

She weakly half laughs

Head of Ward just gives her a look

MARY (CONT’D)I don't I- I'm fine I'm healthy I've been sleeping well

HEAD OF WARDI never said you weren't.

MARY...And now you want me to take a break and I don't see how it's...

HEAD OF WARD-only temporary, we're talking...six weeks give or take.

MARYSix weeks? Six weeks is rent.

HEAD OF WARDThen we'll reimburse.

Mary gives up, she's not getting out of this.

A long beat

MARYSo where are you relocating?

HEAD OF WARDStanlock, ten miles east it's got top notch security and it's close to the town.

MARYAll right.

EXT. HOSPITAL CAR PARK

The sound of a gas. The last bus leaving the hospital. Mary's stands by the entrance.

MARYThere just ain't no way.

EXT/INT CAR

Mary walks up to her rusty old car and gets in, the Windshield is dusty and so she gets a scrubber and hastily cleans it.

EXT. FIELDS

The car tolls along slowly. A gentle clunking across the road.

INT. CAR

Mary's focused on the road.

A series of clunks come from the car.

The sound of a Raven not too far.

Mary concerned but continues driving then a series of sharp jolts bring the car to a stand still.

MARYOh what the hell.

EXT. FIELD - LATER

Mary gets out and walks to the bonnet she opens it and sees nothing indicating a problem, she fiddles with it but then leaves it and walks into the car again.

INT. CAR-LATER

The Car doesn't start at all. She walks out again

EXT. FIELD - MOMENTS LATER

She stands by the car and then looks back to see the Asylum around a mile away her vision impaired by the fog surrounding the fields, she sighs and begins walking back along the path to the asylum, a bird comes onto the car and settles itself, just out of view.

CUT TO:

INT. WARD HALL-LATER

Mary stands in the empty hallway, she opens her hands to see a key we follow her walking in the empty corridors

I/E. WAITING ROOM

As she walks she stops for a while and hears a faint scratching such as that from a Vinyl, she walks into

INT. CONTROL ROOM-LATER

WOMAN(V.O.) (V.O.)Intrusion on level one

Mary walks up to the mainframe, a large tape recorder feeding into a larger receiver

WOMAN(V.O.) (V.O.) (CONT’D)Intrusion on level one

Mary walks up to a volume switch controlling the recorder and pulls it down the sounds beceomes more and more scratchy until it strobes producing a medium pitched sound, almost that of a scream which ceases.

EXT. WAITING ROOM DOOR

A door opens

INT. CONTROL ROOM

Mary turns to leave and opens the door to see

The Doctor sitting on one of the patient seats.

THE DOCTORHello.

CUT TO:

INT. ASYLUM SLEEPING ROOM

MARYYou know I was kind of hoping I'd have company.

THE DOCTORI was hoping I wouldn't have to spend any more time here.

MARYSo why are you here?

THE DOCTOR(Beat)

I'm looking for something.

MARYAnd what's that?

The Doctor doesn't answer

MARY (CONT’D)Oh come on, it's only us here I'm not some sort of...spy.

THE DOCTORDid you really just say that?

Mary laughs

MARYIt's been a bit of a crazy day...besides you don't even work here you told me.

THE DOCTORYou're right. So what are you doing here?

MARYCar's stuck, gotta call someone to pick me up. Speaking of which do you..

THE DOCTORYes.

THE DOCTORI don't think that's such a good idea.

A long beat

THE DOCTORIt's a spaceship(Completely deadpan)

The Doctor just looks at Mary she looks at him completely deadpan

THE DOCTOR (CONT’D)Which happens to travel in Time, Space and alternate dimensions since you asked.

Mary half laughs, then looks at the Doctor sincere and confused

MARYHow do you expect me to believe that?

THE DOCTORYou don't, it's easier that way.

MARYWhat is it with you?

THE DOCTORWhat?

MARYI'm just trying to be..nice.

THE DOCTORNice people are boring.

EXT. HALLWAY- LATER

The Doctor is briskly walking down a hallway with rooms on eihter side, Mary lagging behind.

THE DOCTORIt's just through hereCome on.

INT./EXT. NARROW HALLWAY

Mary follows the Doctor, as she walks the automated lights behind her turn off, she briefly stops at the sound of static, she walks back a few paces and sees a small childs room, lit up by a TV which is projecting a VHS fairly quiet.

WOMAN ON TV(V.O.) (V.O.)That's a lie! You're a liar

MAN ON TV(V.O.) (V.O.)Face it lady you're as guilty as I am!

Mary walks in unafraid walking to turn off the TV.

CHILDDon't.

She turns quickly to see the child sitting on a wooden stool looking passively at the television, Mary looks to him confused.

MARYHello..my name's Mary.

CHILDHello Mary.(innocent)

MAN ON TV(V.O.) (V.O.)You think I trusted you, with my own son?!

MARYI'm so sorry, did no one see you? Did you ask for help?

CHILDNo.

MARYOk then sweethart well I'm a nurse this is a hospital for sick people

CHILDWhere are the sick people?

CHILDThen why are you here?

MARYI got lost, like you.

CHILDI'm not lost.

WOMAN ON TV (V.O)What choice did I have?!

MARYWhere are your parents?

CHILDAt home.

MARYThen how did you find your way here?

CHILDI walked.

MARYWell ok, there must have been someone was there a guardian with you?

CHILDYou let me in.

MARYI'm...what?

CHILDYou told me to come in.

MARYSweetie I think you're confusing me for someone.

CHILDYou're lying, you're a liar.

MARYExcuse me.

MARYRight well, I don't understand what you're-

MARYWell, that's fine I don't mind being disliked.

Mary laughs awkwardly

CHILDYes you do.

MARYWell you can't stay here I'm sorry, you'll come with me and we'll find a way to get in contact with-

CHILDThe phone's broken.

MARY(flustered)

What?

CHILDI broke it.

MARYWell that's fine, there's more than one phone in this hospital.

A long beat

CHILDYou left your door open.

MARYWhat?

CHILDI saw you sleeping.

MARYWhen was this?

CHILDYesterday.

MARYMy door was locked.

The child laughs. Mary remains completely sincere.

MARY (CONT’D)I don't think we should talk anymore, I'll take you somewhere and we'll...

The TV volume increases

CHILDI'm staying.

Suddenly a gunshot from the TV mary turns to it quickly a woman on the ground in a pool of blood. Dead. then looks back, the child is gone.

Mary sits there shocked, absolutely terrified, enters THE DOCTOR

THE DOCTORMary what's wrong? Where have you been? Are you alright?

He walks up to her and sees her in great distress, he holds her on her shoulders.

MARYWhy did you take so long.

THE DOCTORIt doesn't matter. What happened.

MARYI feel sick

Mary hobbles to a half open window and vomits

THE DOCTOROh dear.

MARYThere was a kid, I was talking to him he looked lost, then I looked around for a second and he'd dissapeared.

THE DOCTORHow?

MARYJust, he, it felt like he wasn't really there. This is insane.

THE DOCTOR No it's not.

Mary sits holding her head in pain, THE DOCTOR gets excited

THE DOCTOR (CONT’D)Where did he sit, here?

MARYYes, we were talking and -

THE DOCTORYou already said that

He flashes his screwdriver at the seat looks at the results and sighs

THE DOCTOR (CONT’D) That's aggravating.

MARYWhat are you doing?

The doctor is placing his screwdriver in the console

MARYI don't believe it.

THE DOCTORYou're so predictable

MARYIf you could go anywhere in time and space as you say then why’d you come here? Really.

THE DOCTORI said before. I was looking for something and I think I've found it. I just need proof.

MARYOf what?

THE DOCTOR The child you said you saw. There's no trace.

MARYYou were aware of it.

THE DOCTORI was aware of something, someone called the TARDIS and it wasn't human, or alive.

MARYSo that's why you have to stay?

THE DOCTORThat's why I have to stay.

MARYSo I was talking to an alien?

The Doctor walks up to her and passes her a strange looking transponder

MARY How do you know when I'm going to see it again.

THE DOCTORI don’t, it’s just a theory.

The Doctor throws her a Walkie Talkie

Mary walks through the room, postcards littered on the floor, a clock ticks irregularly she looks up to it, the big hand falters ticking forward then coming back to the same place.

She sees a letter on the ground its a postcard, she picks it up and puts it back on the shelf

MARY(Into walkie talkie)

It's funny, I always thought I'd love a break from everyone but I miss them now.

THE DOCTOR(V.O.)Have you found anything?

MARYNothing but the usual.

THE DOCTOR(V.O.)And what's the usual?

A bookshelf fallen onto the ground, a pile of books spread everywhere.

INT./EXT. RECEPTION ROOM-LATER

MARYNo, nothing here. Yunno I'm starting to think that-

She walks through a door into a door leading to a staircase

INT. STAIRCASE-MOMENTS LATER

She looks down, a long way to walk.

She comes back inside and walks to the lift area.

INT./EXT. LIFT WAITING BAY-MOMENTS LATER

She presses the button for ground floor

CHILD(V.O.)Hello.

The child's voice comes softly out of the speakers.

Mary freezes.

CHILD(V.O.)You know who it is. I need you to help me.

MARYWhat do you need help with?

CHILDThere's a man here.

Mary opens up the walkie talkie with care, as if the child is watching her as she speaks. She presses the receiving button and pulls it up to her mouth...

MARYWhere is he?

The child doesn't respond.

MARY (CONT’D)Sweetie, where is the man?

CHILDI've found him.

MARYOk sweethart where is he, let's go and find him, let's go and find the man together.

CHILDNo.

MARYWhat's no

CHILDI already know where you are.

MARYHow do you know where I am..(not focused on the child)

She brings the walkie talkie towards her mouth

CHILDI can see you.

Mary freezes with the walkie talkie towards her mouth she looks around for cameras and sees nothing.

CHILD (CONT’D)Who are you talking to?

MARYI'm not talking to anyone honey.

CHILDYes you are. You're talking to the man.

She realises that the lift hasn't moved at all and presses the button again.

CHILD (CONT’D)You're not leaving Mary.

A beat

She slams the door with both hands

She preses the lift buttons more furiously

MARYOpen the door! Please.

Then coming to realising the futility gives up and just stand there.

MARY (CONT’D)What have you done.

CHILDAre you scared of dying Mary? Would you like to die?

Can't decide which line to have, him just straight up telling her he wants to kill her or he questions her in an almost innocent way which could possible terrify her more

MARY(on walkie talkie quietly)

Doctor...

The lift plummets, Mary screams, it jolys suddenly. Mary is distressed her back against he wall almost sobbing.

The Doctor's voice comes over the speakers, but it is from the child'd end.

DOCTOR(V.O.)Mary. Did you see it, did you see the child?

MARYNo.(embittered)

For a second she looks up to the speaker almost angry.

The lift opens to reveal an empty mortuary

MALE VOICE(V.O.)Here are Redrock we care about our patients well being.

The room is plastered with paintings, a TV on the top playing an advertisement for the asylum, the Doctor walks through uncaring.
