PRIEST (CONT'D)How did you find this? Did I tell you to touch anything?

The man pulls the frame from the child and silently reflects over it. He then looks at a child confused and angry, the child smiles and the man walks back up to the stove.

A forensics team is taking photos and the Head of Ward exits to speak to the several investigators outside.

From the back door we see a man enter, wearing a black suit. THE DOCTOR. He simply walks up to the body and we hear the all too familiar sound of the screwdriver.

    THE DOCTORIt wasn't your patient.

    MARYI'm sorry?

THE DOCTORThis man wasn't murdered. And the blood

    (indicating the bloody ground)

    Isn't his.

    MARYThen who's is it?

    15.

  • THE DOCTORI don't know. That's always fun. The pressure on his brain was enormous, but this wasn't spontaneous..

    (Talking to himself)Hold this

The Doctor hands her the screwdriver she takes it apprehensively.

    MARYWhat is this?

    THE DOCTOR(Whilst examining the brain)

It's a sonic device capable of penetrating- solid matter.

MARYBut how did he escape, wards are locked 24/7

    INT. HEAD OF WARD ROOM

HEAD OF WARDDonovan's door was unlocked from the outside, we can't entertain the possibility of something like that happening agian it posed a grave security risk to the hospital . I'd also like you to take a temporary break

We move to see Mary in the Ward Room with the Head of Ward

    17.

  • MARYA break?

HEAD OF WARDIndeed. I feel that it would be best for your own health and well being if you were to-

MARYThis isn't about my well being.

    HEAD OF WARDI'm sorry?

MARYYou think that I was involved somehow.

HEAD OF WARDIn no way would I imply something like that.

(A beat)Myself and a confederate of other nurses have decided that your own good it would be best-

    MARYSomeone reported me.

HEAD OF WARDI'm not in a position to discuss that information.

    Mary sighs

    MARY(A beat)

So what's gonna happen to Donovan?

HEAD OF WARDHe'll have to be moved to Intensive for as long as the case is running, from their it's really the courts decision.

MARYI don't want him moved to intensive.

HEAD OF WARDI'm sorry but guidelines dictate that-

    18.

  • MARYThere's no evidence that he was involved.

HEAD OF WARDAnd how can you make that claim?

    MARYBecause I-

The Head of Ward analyses her intensely.

HEAD OF WARDMary is something wrong?

    MARYNo.

Head of Ward gives her a curious look

    MARY (CONT'D)What

    She weakly half laughs

Head of Ward just gives her a look

    MARY (CONT'D)I don't I- I'm fine I'm healthy I've been sleeping well

HEAD OF WARDI never said you weren't.

MARYThere was--there was a boy he was sat right here, and then I looked for a second and,

    THE DOCTORTell me

MARYI don't know how to describe it itfelt like I wasn't really talking to anyone. This is insane.

    THE DOCTORNo it's not.

Mary sits holding her head in pain, THE DOCTOR gets excited

THE DOCTOR (CONT'D)Where did he sit, here?

MARYYes, we were talking and -

    THE DOCTORYou already said that

He flashes his screwdriver at the seat looks at the results and sighs

    THE DOCTOR (CONT'D)That's aggravating.

    MARYWhat are you doing?

    The doctor doesn't respond.

    MARY (CONT'D)Doctor. Tell me.

    28.

  • A long beat, the Doctor sighs

THE DOCTORYou're going to have to trust me, even if you don't believe me.

    A long beat

    MARYOk. I trust you.

    CUT TO

    INT. TARDIS LATER

The Doctor is placing his screwdriver in the console

    MARYI don't believe it.

    THE DOCTORUnbelievably predictable.

MARYIf you could go anywhere in time and space as you say then whyd you come here? Really.

THE DOCTORLike I said before. I was looking for something and I think I've found it. I just need proof.

    MARYOf what?

THE DOCTORThe child you said you saw. Well there's no trace. At least not one I can find.

    MARYYou were aware of it.

THE DOCTORI was aware of something, someone called the TARDIS and it wasn't human, or alive.

MARYSo that's why you have to stay?

    29.

  • THE DOCTORThat's why I have to stay.

MARYSo I was talking to an alien?

    THE DOCTORMore than likely.

    MARYWow.

The Doctor walks up to her and passes her a strange looking transponder

THE DOCTORYou're going to need to take this, it's a transponder, it should register when you next see the child.

MARYHow do you know when I'm going to see it again.

THE DOCTORI dont, its just a theory.

    MARYWhat theory?

THE DOCTORMy theory. Come on let's go.

    MARYGo.

THE DOCTORYou don't want to go home do you?

    MARYOf course not. I'm excited.

    They both laugh

    INT. RECEPTION ROOM

MARYWe're going to have to split up. Cover more ground.

THE DOCTORYou're way ahead of me.

    30.

  • The Doctor throws her a Walkie Talkie

    MARYI'll be in touch.

    CUT TO

    INT. LEISURE ROOM- LATER

Mary walks through the room, postcards littered on the floor, a clock ticks irregularly she looks up to it, the big hand falters ticking forward then coming back to the same place. She sees a letter on the ground its a postcard, she picks it up and puts it back on the shelf

    MARY(Into walkie talkie)

    You should see this.

    Holds up a postcard."Dear mary..."-

    THE DOCTOR(V.O.)

(Interjecting)Please spare me the sentimentality, Have you found anything yet?

    MARYNothing but the usual.

    THE DOCTOR(V.O.)And what's the usual?

A bookshelf fallen onto the ground, a pile of books spread everywhere.

    CUT TO:

    INT./EXT. RECEPTION ROOM-LATER

She walks through a door into a door leading to a staircase

She presses the button for ground floor

    CHILD(V.O.)Hello.

The child's voice comes softly out of the speakers.

    Mary freezes.

    MARYHello who's this?

CHILD(V.O.)You know who it is. I need you to help me.

MARYWhat do you need help with?

    CHILDThere's a man here.

Mary opens up the walkie talkie with care, as if the child is watching her as she speaks. She presses the receiving button and pulls it up to her mouth...

    MARYWhere is he?

    The child doesn't respond.

MARY (CONT'D)Sweetie, where is the man?

    CHILDI've found him.

MARYOk sweethart where is he, let's go and find him, let's go and find the man together.

    CHILDNo.

    32.

  • MARYWhat's no

CHILDI already know where you are.

MARYHow do you know where I am..

    (not focused on the child)

She brings the walkie talkie towards her mouth

    CHILDI can see you.

Mary freezes with the walkie talkie towards her mouth she looks around for cameras and sees nothing.

CHILD (CONT'D)Who are you talking to?

Mary looks around for security cameras distracts

CHILD (CONT'D)WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO

MARYI'm not talking to anyone honey.

CHILDYes you are. You're talking to him.

She realises that the lift hasn't moved at all and presses the button again.

    CHILD (CONT'D)You're not leaving Mary.

    A beat

She slams the door with both hands

She presses the lift buttons more furiously

    MARYOpen the door! Please.

Then coming to realising the futility gives up and just stands there. Completely futile.

    MARY (CONT'D)What have you done.

    33.

  • CHILDAre you scared of dying Mary?

Can't decide which line to have, him just straight up telling her he wants to kill her or he questions her in an almost innocent way which could possible terrify her more

    |

    MARY(on walkie talkie quietly)

    Doctor...

The lift plummets, Mary screams, it jolys suddenly. Mary is distressed her back against he wall almost sobbing.

For a second she looks up to the speaker almost angry.

The lift opens to reveal an empty mortuary

    CUT TO

MALE VOICE(V.O.)Here are Redrock we care about our patients well being.

    CUT TO:

    INT. LIFT- MOMENTS LATER

Mary is sat staring at the lift buttons.

MARYI'm fine, I was just stalled for a second.

    THE DOCTORYou need help.

MARYI don't. The child spoke to me.

Fill this part in with dialogue causing conflict between the Doctor wanting to help Mary and her decline, cutting between the classroom and the lift to show their separation. Come back when you can think of something...

    THE DOCTORHow do you mean?

    MARYThe lift speaker I'm guessing.

    THE DOCTORGuessing or knowing?

    35.

  • MARY(Looking towards the speaker unconfidently)

Knowing. He said that he knew where I was and where you were and that we wouldn't be able to leave.

THE DOCTORSo he has control of communications. Where are you right now?

    MARYFifth Ward.

    No response

    THE DOCTOROk.

    MARYDoctor what's wrong.

    No response

    MARY (CONT'D)Doctor.

THE DOCTORI'm coming to help you.

MARYI said I don't need help.

THE DOCTORIf he has control of the technology

    MARY(over his voice)

    I know. I'm handling it.

THE DOCTORThis could've been far worse

    MARY(Struggling over his voice)

Didn't you hear what I said

THE DOCTORIt's my fault. Ward 3 that's five blocks west of here.

    36.

  • MARYDOCTOR. I said I'm fine, I'm not useless.

    THE DOCTORI never said that.

MARYNo. You're treating me like a bloody toddler. If need help I'll ask, otherwise you stick to your thing and I'll stick to mine. Are we clear on that? Besides you should be worrying about yourself.

THE DOCTORWhy would I be worrying about myself?

    MARYI think-

    A pause

MARY (CONT'D)I think the child knows where you are.

A long beat Behind the Doctor blurred we see on the Chalkboard a large eye. A sudden tension enters the room, the Doctor remains completely still he turns to look to the Chalkboard it saying "DON'T RUN" Shocked he examines the board.

    THE DOCTOR(solemn)

    Show yourself.

A sudden explosion, absolutely massive rustling the room as he runs towards the window where the sound came from we focus back on the chalkboard, a smiley face.

At the window the Doctor sees the flames of the TARDIS. Alight.

He rushes to the door, it's locked he slams it harder but it doesn't budge.

He rushes back to the Walkie Talkie

DOCTORMary, can you hear me? Listen where ever you are just run, find an exit anything.

    37.

  • MARYToo late. We're trapped. What do we do?

    A beat

DOCTOROk, then you need to go and-

A crackle, the walkie talkie fissles into static, the Doctor hits it the static fissles out into an almost scream then nothing.

DOCTOR (CONT'D)Mary, mary can you hear me!

MAN ON TV(V.O.)The Head of Ward Randell Sharp is available for consultation on Level 5 the main administrative board which contains records for use of executive staff only.

The Doctor turns to face the TV and we

    CUT TO:

    INT/EXT. WARD ROOM - LATER

The Doctor stands outside of the door and brings out his screwdriver, as he flashes it at the door it makes a strange high pitched distorted sound, he shakes it and tries again, it doesn't work. He kicks open the door to reveal a dozen TV's hooked up to the security system. On a desk to his left a pile of books titled "Records". He walks up to the TV's and watches each one, he looks onto the table where the security TV's are placed and sees a Speaker. From watching the TV's he sees Mary standing outside a Mortuary

    DOCTORMary....

    He pushes for the Speaker

DOCTOR (CONT'D)Mary! Mary can you hear me?

    Nothing.

    38.

  • He lets his finger go from the speaker, walks up to the records stored on the computer, he stops at several webpages"Dental Records" "Patient Incidents" before settling at "Staff Records" Mary at the top of the page with a picture of her smiling he looks down and we see "incidents" underneath that "Severity" a color block of red next to it, the Doctor is intrigued we move towards his face registering pure shock and we...

    CUT TO:

    INT. MORTUARY- LATER

A hideous old woman with blue eyes frozen in fear, Mary moves to the front of the table and looks at the name tag on her foot

    "Jane Doe."

A slew of compartment doors are open on the mortuary walls, mary moves towards them and pulls out a table with a small body covered in the same white sheet, she opens it to reveal the dead security guard from earlier, she looks on the name tag

    "Mark Sully."

She wheels it back in and walks to pick another, from the PoVof the Jane Doe we start to see its mouth move almost inhumanly, something itching to come out, Mary oblivious continues searching.

She pulls open another and just as she begins to unzip we see a childs face and cut back to Mary's reaction, a terrible sadness.

We return to the PoV of Jane Doe and her mouth pulls harder.

Back to Mary as she pulls open another Table, a larger body, she unzips it and sees a fairhaired extremely pale woman.

    It's her.

She zips it fully to see her body full of marks. Almost runes.

    She screams.

From the PoV of Jane Doe her mouth releases as several locusts pull their way through.

    39.
