town historic districts Building Plaque Program About Uptown United Uptown United is Uptown’s community economic development organization serving the entire Uptown community. Our mission is to build a strong, unified business environment; facilitate economic development; and strengthen community—all to nurture a diverse, vibrant, thriving, and strong Uptown. We achieve our mission through marketing, advocacy, and technical assistance; facilitating economic development through smart urban planning, arts development, and business attraction; and strengthen community through capacity building and placemaking efforts. Building Plaque Information Some quick facts on the building plaque program: - Plaques are custom designed, bronze cast and cost $200 each (including s&h fees). - Each plaque will be customized with your building’s historic information. - You don’t need to research architect and year built -- we have that information! - You can install the plaque yourself, or, for an extra $60, our handyman will do it for you. To recognize buildings that contribute to Uptown historic districts, Uptown United is coordinating a building plaque program. Property or business owners in buildings that contribute to a historic district may purchase a plaque for their building, customized with the year built and architect.
