The Marquette City Band invites individual adult instrumentalists to participate in a unique musical

opportunity at the UP Community Band Festival—

The Festival Concert Band!

As a member of a community band you are invited to

participate in the Festival Concert Band. The schedule will

include three rehearsals, special performances, and a

concluding concert. There will also be opportunities for

unique social activities in the local area.

The Marquette City Band, Guest Community Bands, and the

Festival Concert Band will perform concerts on Friday and

Saturday evenings.

The Festival Concert Band Brings together community band

instrumentalists from across the U.S. for an

enjoyable musical and social experience.

Includes an educational component through

rehearsals, clinics and recitals.

Promotes and supports musicians and their

community bands in our region.

Provides a significant band concert/event for

Marquette audiences and visitors.

Festival Concert Band Leadership The Festival Concert Band will be conducted by

Dr. Stephen Grugin, Director of the Marquette

City Band and the Director of Bands/Professor of

Low Brass at Northern Michigan University.

Sectionals, clinics and special performances will

be given by faculty from the Music Department

of Northern Michigan University and other

community and professional musical guests.
