Gratitude and Blessings as you go!
It is with sadness that we farewell to Fr Noy immediately after Easter as he takes up his new parish at Gatton/Laidley. We thank you Fr Noy for your gentle and graced ministering to us during your ever so short stay in our parish. We wish you every blessing as you settle into the very different realm of parish life in the beautiful country community of Gatton Laidley and the Scenic Rim. May the Spirit guide and direct your future ministry. Our prayers go with you!

Guided by the Holy Spirit, we aim to be an evangelising, faith-filled parish whose members care for one another and are welcoming and inclusive

Women go to the tomb as dawn is breaking. The Power of Darkness which had Jesus unjustly sentenced, cruelly tortured and buried in the pitch blackness of the tomb, is conquered by the Son-Rise of all sun rises flooding our world and the whole of human history with Divine Light and Energy.
This is the heart of our faith as Catholic Christians, which we celebrate with bon-fire (good fire) in darkness at the Easter Vigil. From that earthly element we light the Easter candle and the Exsultet is sung: ‘Be glad, let earth be glad as glory floods her, ablaze with light from her eternal King.’
The resurrection itself is nowhere described in the gospels, but we do have appearances of the Risen Lord Jesus. The first appearance was to a woman, Mary of Magdala. A title given to her by the early church was ‘Apostle to the Apostles’ because she was the bearer of the message which the male disciples initially did not believe. But eventually they too believed that Death had been done to death because the Son had risen.
Christ’s body was transfigured by the energy of Divine Love and we can, by grace, participate in that resurrection life of Our Lord. A glorious destiny awaits us, as indeed it awaits the whole cosmos as it is to be transformed by that resurrection life recreating the whole of creation.
We could take a moment to pray that we, along with all that matters, are graced with the life-giving energy of the Risen Son and that we may join Mary of Magdala in spreading the Good News of Christ’s victory over death. Alleluia!
On behalf of Fr Pat and the parish team we wish you a joy filled
Easter and a peaceful rest or holiday [for those who are taking one]. Thank you one and all for your contribution to our parish in each of your communities. It is your dedication and good will that makes the cogs go around in a very busy parish. Special thanks to the Liturgy team and all the extra people you seconded for duties during Holy Week and The Easter Triduum. Liturgy is the core business of our parish and with all hands to the wheel we are able to celebrate with dignity and grace as we journey through Holy Week and the three days celebration the Last supper, Death of Christ and the Resurrection. What a privilege to celebrate together in peace, mercy, forgiveness and grace filled joy. We can only do this because God first loved and graced us. Let us be forever grateful for these wonderful gifts we continue to receive and share with others.
Happy Easter to all.

Reflecting on the symbols of
resurrected life
This week we ‘experience the most important feast in the Christian calendar. It will be a long weekend here in Australia. But not every Christian country celebrates this key feast with two national public holidays on Good Friday and Easter Monday. There is no such national holiday break in the USA. There, it varies from state to state. So here in Australia, how are these public holidays now celebrated? What is the meaning given to them when the latest census data of 2011 indicates that over 30 per cent of the nation’s population has a religious faith other than Christian or no religious affiliation at all? As I walk into any of the major shopping centres in an Australian city, Easter is portrayed as a celebration of food, namely hot cross buns and chocolate eggs. There are no other reminders of the primacy of this central feast of Christianity – the celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Yet hot cross buns, chocolate eggs and bunny rabbits all have their origins in the meaning of Easter resurrection and the power of life over death. They became symbols at different times and in different places of the mystery of new life emerging in the northern hemisphere springtime, and of the excitement of the mystery of Resurrection and eternal life.’
March 15, 2016 Clare Condon SGS Let us celebrate the true meaning of Easter and witness the Good News to those we meet.
EASTER PRAYER
God of tender mercy, we thank you for the joy of new life this Easter.
Give us new eyes to recognize your presence around us each day.
The resurrection of your Son has given us renewed hope.
Grant us the insight to discern daily deeds of mercy, compassion and
justice. May the Spirit fill us with the courage, perseverance and the strength to live
each day in mercy and humility. May the Risen Christ be our guide on
the path of peace throughout all our days.
Amen. Copies of the above Lenten Prayer card are available at our parish churches. Please take a copy.
