Book Week - Wow … Wow … Wow!! The effort all students went to to dress as a book character was amazing. We had a creeper, zombie, Iron Man, Luke Skywalker, Harry Potter and even Willy Wonka. Upper Lansdowne is definitely the best little school, with the biggest heart! Of course Mrs Powell, in her variety of costumes, stole the show, supported with Superwoman Narelle, Cat in The Hat Tayla and Bugsy Mr Dawson added to the week. Thank you to Narelle for helping the students make yummy sausage rolls, cheese pinwheels and cupcakes. What a week!!

Snippets of Our Wondrous Writing - Term 3 Weeks 8-10
Sam D - Heat liberated the far horizons, sadness roamed the lavished land. Red clouds gathered through the war of savage rains. Splendour struck as the beast is hidden in his cage. Sam W - In the land of sweeping plains, a giant wave of fire swept across the land, engulfed trees which were turned into torches. Day turned to night, the mon-strous wreckage became a weapon of singed debris, roaming freely over the sky. Hunter - As the vast. Alone whale soared through the air like a majestic bunny flying, the puzzling, mysterious, vibrant chameleon carefully aimed at the unexpect-ing, curious grasshopper. Daley - A brown bunny lay next to a vast, big, black python. Shivers ran down the python’s spine when the snake eating rabbit swallowed him whole after he ripped out his noodle like intestines.

Our Mooovellous Dairy Farm Visit Baby calves, cow “pats”, the smell of milk, walking and more walking, plus visiting the milking shed were just some of the activities that made our dairy farm experience mooovellous.

Modernising Our School Uniform In the last 3 years, most schools have redesigned their school to reflect current trends. As a staff we have discussed the concept of redesigning and modernising our school uniform. We have sought samples from LW Reid, who supply most school uniforms, based on our blue and white school colours. Plus I have priced other local school’s uniform costs to establish the average prices for uniforms. The average price is $25 per shirt and jackets $35. However, the decision to modernise-redesign the uniform solely depends on your opinions ie P&C. These are samples I showed some parents at our Open Afternoon. The polo back cotton is the better alternative as it is “breathable”. Design 1 Daley is wearing the polo cotton back polo in sky blue, white and royal blue. I think a more serviceable alternative would be to swap the royal blue and sky blue. This would mean that shirt front panel is royal blue and the sleeve is sky blue. Alternatively both the shirt front panel and sleeves are royal blue. Approximate cost is $25 Design 2 Tristan is wearing the polo cotton back, with a navy front panel and the sky blue side panel and sleeve. Approximate cost is $25

Hats This type of microfiber hat is reversible and comes in a choice of colours. The advantage of this type of hat is it has an elastic drawstring to ensure a secure fit. Approximate costs - plain (non-reversible) $10, with a contrast trim $10, reversible (2 colours) $12. Jackets Tristan is wearing the “Bannerman Baseball Jacket”, in navy and sky blue and it is a good quality fleecy jacket. Approximate cost is $33 Tristan is wearing the “Spofforth Microfibre Sport Jacket” in sky, navy and white. This jacket is lined with a light knit weave. It is possible to have the jacket without white, so the sleeves would be navy and sky blue which is most probably a better option. Approximate cost is $33 Term 4 Week 1 - I will ask all parents to share their opinions on: 1. If a slight uniform change is viable 2. If a change is a viable option which style do parents prefer. I will present this data to the P&C in Week 2 and together we will make a decision. Have a wonderful, safe holiday - Shellie
