Upper Junior ReadingUpper Junior Reading

ReadingSupporting your child’s reading is

one of the most valuable things a parent can do to help in their child’s education. Children will be sent home with reading books which they should be able to read to an adult with a little support. Please encourage your child to read to you for 20-30 minutes each night in a quiet place away from any distractions. It is also important to ask your child questions, as this will help them understand the characters and improve their creative writing skills.

Try asking:What do you think will happen next?Who is your favourite character and why?How do you think that character feels now? What would you do if you were there?
