UPK DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS

I N T R O D U C T I O N

The objective of this document is to establish the standard UPK settings that will be used both within the

UPK Developer application and on each computer that will be used for UPK development. This will

ensure that the UPK training materials that are developed for the ERP project will be consistant in

appearance and that the training content will be created in the same way and formatted uniformly across

all training materials.

Lesson Concept Window (Why) – Contains the lesson overview including the purpose, objective, cross

module impacts, and any significant businesses.

Example: For a New Hire

Purpose: To ensure that a new hire is properly entered into the ERP system. This will allow the

employee to be paid correctly, participate in benefits, and enter their time (exception or positive).

Objective: Learn how to enter a new hire using the Workforce Administration pages.

UPK Development Standards

Cross Module Impacts:

Benefits - Information entered on the Benefits Administration page will trigger the Benefits

Administration (BA) module. The BA module will review the information and determine how to

process the new employee through the appropriate benefit program.

Payroll – Information entered on the Payroll and Compensation pages will feed into the Payroll

module. This will determine the amount and frequency that an employee is paid.

Time and Labor – A Tasks Group is selected for each employee. This will determine what Time

and Labor rules apply to this employee. Time and Labor rules are designed to apply rules to time

worked or not worked such as overtime.

Significant Business Change – Since ERP is now one system, employees must be entered into

the Human Resources pages (Workforce Administration) before they can be processed through

payroll to receive a check.

Topic Concept Window (How) (Items listed under a Lesson) – List the overall concept(s) or

procedure(s) being implemented as documented from the Business Design Documents that are specific

to the process being trained.

Introduction (What) – Explains the scenario that is being reflected in the specific script.

Note: Information Blocks and Explanation Pages can be used at anytime throughout a script to

address workflow, process changes, value descriptions, etc.
