Issue 3 - October, 2013
48 in 24! Way to go, Beth!At the Rock ‘n’ Roll half-marathon in St. Louis this year, Beth Deloria accomplished her goal of running 48 half marathons in 24 months. Though Beth is incredibly modest about all of her efforts in the Get Back UP campaign as well as this particular milestone, Allard USA, Bouvier Kelly, and all of the others involved are sending her a collective group hug! For your tireless efforts to help spread this very positive message and especially for facing all of the airport delays, cold mornings, and time away from family to encourage others to take back their lives and Get Back UP today, we thank you. Congratulations, Beth!

Rocking ‘n’ Rolling in Cleveland!Beth’s journey brought her to Cleveland where there is no shortage of people wanting to spread the Get Back Up Message. Her visit with Shawn Notarione started at an In-Service with Cleveland Clinic that ran an hour over due to their interest in both her message and the ToeOFF braces! She was then invited to speak at the CMTA Support and Action Group by group facilitator Heather Hawk Frank. On October 6th she met up with fellow runner Todd Hart to participate in the Rock N Roll Half Marathon. Todd suffers from dystonia after overcoming melanoma. He proudly wears the ToeOFF and enthusiastically shares the Get Back Up message.

Denver is where it’s at!Beth’s visit to Denver began with a drive out to Lakewood to meet with the CMT support group. The previous day, she had the honor of meeting with with support group facilitator, Ron Plageman. On this visit, she was also introduced to co-facilitator Dick Kutz and the rest of the group. The meeting went so well, it even ran over the initially scheduled time! Beth then headed over to meet Kelly Millard in Greeley for a PT course at NCMC (North Colorado Medical Center). The following day, she ran her 47th half marathon while CMTA support group facilitator, Ron, participated in the 22 mile bike tour portion of the Rock N Roll Marathon.

Jill Completes 620 Mile Challenge Ride! From Saturday October 12th – Friday October 18th Jill Walsh racked up some serious miles on her new bike (620, to be exact!). She pedaled along the coast from San Francisco to San Diego as part of the Dodge Million Dollar Challenge. This grueling 3-day ride helped to raise one million dollars to support the Challenged Athletes Foundation.
It was amazing. A journey of self discovery for me. Jill Walsh, TeamUP member

Trotting for a CauseOn Saturday October 12th, Tennesseans gathered at Concord Park in Knoxville to celebrate the gift of mobility. Each year Orthotist and friend of Allard USA, Leslie King, does a fantastic job of organizing the Tenessee Trot. The money raised from this event provides bracing options for individuals in need in Tenessee. The event includes a 5k with various fun stations throughout the course, and, as usual everyone involved had a blast!
