PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Business Intelligence Analyst/DeveloperHouston Texas – National Oilwell VarcoNovember 2013 – December 2015

National Oilwell Varco(NOV) is a Global manufacturer of Oil and Gas Equipment. NOV’s main source of revenue is building Rig Systems for various businesses and countries around the world. NOV currently has a 60% share of oil and gas equipment in the US. My team which was the Business Intelligence Group, was responsible for consolidating all of the data from the different ERP systems into a single data warehouse. My role was having to work with end-users in collecting business requirements based on single or multi ERP systems, working with the ETL teams in creating the necessary Materialized Views, personally developing models in the RPD and building reports/ dashboards to meet our end-user’s requirements. My Subject Areas spanned different groups within the organization, including but not limited to Supply Chain, Accounting, Finance and Marketing

Business Requirement Gathering and Understanding Working with ETL teams to create Views Developing Models in RPD. Physical, Business Model and Mapping, Presentation Layers Creating Reports and dashboards Verifying numbers in dashboards against other reports in JDE and TAT Training of Business Users on how to use and navigate dashboards More specific tasks include but not limited to working with OBIEE Admin Tool and importing

Materialized Views into Physical Layer of RPD using connection pools, creating Aliases, did dimension modeling using Star Schemas, Physical joins between dimension and fact tables, setting cache parameters, Creating Models in Business Model and Mapping Layer, Creating, dimension and fact tables, created dimensional hierarchies, created complex joins between dimensions and facts, Used rename wizard to establish naming conventions, Importing Model into Presentation Layers to create Subject Area, Created reports and dashboards, pivot tables, graphs, bubble charts, Tree Maps, Performance Tiles, Defined key metrics KPI’s based on user specifications, Created presentation variables in the front-end and repository variables using initialization blocks, created global filters, column filters, navigation links and drill downs to detail reports, Dashboard Prompts. Seeding cache to make reports run faster using Agents. Verified data against other data sources including JDE and Track a Tool. Applied Object Level Security to dashboards using OBIEE Presentations Services 11.1…..9, helped create data level security with administrator for certain users as far as what product lines and regions they could view in a dashboard. End-User Training on how to use and navigate dashboards.

Supply ChainDeveloped Models/Module and dashboards to help business users and Managers keep track of Sales, Purchase orders, Work Orders and Service Orders. Developed key metrics including On-Time and Late indicators to help Managers track how certain business units, districts and regions within the Organization were able to deliver goods and services in a timely manner. Same logic could also be applied to open orders where reports and dashboards are used to track which open orders that are currently overdue and have not been delivered.

AccountingI developed models for various Accounting projects. My last project was a cost accounting project that tracked cost inflows and outflows for the various manufacturing plants at NOV. Cash flows were mainly grouped into inflows, outflows and adjustments and by studying trends, graphs and numbers, managers could easily spot spikes in cost and then take necessary action. Or they could make comparisons between various plants to determine where resources were used the most. Before I developed the Model and Dashboard, it was taking managers about 17 hours to develop an excel sheet for a single manufacturing plant at the end of every quarter. With this dashboard, managers could get the same data along with charts in a few seconds. Other projects included Turnover rates by Regions, Districts and Business Units

MarketingMarketing managers were primarily concerned with revenue by region, product line and customers. In my last marketing project, I was tasked with helping managers determine which customers were being lost. I developed a dashboard which was primarily based on revenues and annual growth rate. By looking at annual revenue growth rate trends, managers could determine which customers or regions to place more focus on.

Inventory/Fixed Asset Management

Developed models and dashboards to help track status of rental tools, inventory and Fixed Assets. For Rental Tools managers would primarily look at tool counts and net book value of tools on hand by location. For Inventory, managers would look at inventory count along with cost of inventory on hand.

FinanceFinance groups were mainly concerned about profitability and Rig Counts. Developed models and dashboards for Rig Count trends and Profitability analysis ie Net Income, Goss Margin amongst other profitability indexes.

The city of New York, under the CitiServ project was in the process of consolidating most of the city agencies under one umbrella. The project specifically chose OBIEE as its main reporting tool to identify process efficiencies and weaknesses. My role was to develop productivity and efficiency reports and dashboards in addition to core OBIEE functions including RPD and meta-data design. My tasks also included interacting with end-users to translate their requirements into OBIEE functions. My areas of responsibility were primarily Incident management and Change management

RPD and Report development (Operational and Productivity reports) for Incident and Change management, meta-data design, performance tuning measures; dimension modeling, aggregate navigation. Created hierarchies and drill downs functions, performed data analyst roles which included collecting data and building subject areas. Dashboard development for helping managers identify weaknesses within business process; helping identify benchmarks/ targets and also identifying tasks/processes that failed to meet benchmarks. Created variables in the rpd. Created presentation variables within dashboards to display dynamic data.

Designing meta-data to adhere to star schema. Used the expression builder utility to create new logical and physical columns in the BMM

layer and created various calculation measures with case statements. Recommended various solutions to data management and data collection. Import/create tables and add/change physical joins/keys. Creating complex joins/keys, setting levels to support Drill-down, Aggregation/Sum over

columns. Implemented Object Level, Data level security to restrict user access. Performed Data Analyst roles, dimension modeling, creating logical and physical

calculations in BMM layer. Report and dashboard design. (Bar, bubble, pie, trending, funnel charts).

Working closely with ETL teams to migrate data from data source (Remedy) to oracle database.
