Update on the Muon detector layout and readout channel number
Burkhard Schmidt28.03.2011
What was wrong previously• The barrel and end-cap yoke of CLIC ILD, is not an octagon
but a dodecagon. – Thanks to Erik for pointing this out to me– This is still wrong on some of the drawings for the infrastructure.
• For CLIC SiD, this is indeed an octagon. – NB: opposite to ILD, SiD has a
dodecagon inside the coil for ECAL and HCAL. ILD has here octagons.
– Is all this motivated by physics . . . ?
Update on area to be covered
Comments:• In case of scintillators as
technology, 2 layers are mandatory to get the 2 coordinates.
• Area went up by about 25m2/layer
• Single layer for CLIC-ILD a bit larger due to bigger solenoid
• Area went up by about 125m2 since last time.

Channel numbers CLIC-SiD
Comments:• Large difference comes
from the end-caps • SiD doesn’t take into
account that long vertical strips are not feasible.

Update on channel numbers CLIC-ILD
Comments:• Assumed a full pad readout.• The HARDROC chip (64 channels) but also the present version• of the 64 channel version of the KPIX chip seem to be suitable.
