Jubilee Christmas Day — Best EVER

Hundreds of volunteers across the county hosted 600 families who were shopping for 1600 children at 24 different host-sites engaging 34 churches and organizations -- It's LUM Jubilee Christmas!

Jubilee Christmas day is such a joyous day. Our Jubilee Christmas families are wonderful, loving parents -- and our caring volunteers are excited to make these parents the "super-heroes" on Christmas morning. LUM Jubilee Christmas is truly a community effort.

Each Jubilee Christmas family also received a ham, food card & homemade Christmas cookies to make Christmas dinner special too. The highlight of the day was a surprise visit from Santa Claus.

Thank you to all the Jubilee Christmas coordinators who organized the best Jubilee Christmas day ever! Most will never realize how many volunteers and how many hours of hard work and pure love go into making Jubilee Christmas a success.

I would also like to thank all of the sponsoring pastors for their continued support of LUM -- especially Jubilee Christmas. Special thanks to the LUM team who worked Jubilee Christmas Day, and prior, to support the program and make this all happen -- including Linda Hicks, Sandra Dunn Dunn-El, Mary Anderson, Eileen Weiss, Sylvia Mohler and Tricia Sembroski.

Thank YOU again for a memorable day of love and giving -- and Jubilee Christmas joy. Over one-thousand volunteers along with donations of $250,000 worth of toys, food and gift certificates all combined to guarantee that Christmas morning will be a special time for more than 1,800 low-income children in our community.

Be a LUM Volunteer Shelter Coordinator The LUM Emergency Homeless Shelter has openings for volunteer Weekend Coordinators with flexible hours.

Weekend Coordinators

—Responsible for managing the LUM overnight shelter one or more Friday or Saturday nights a month from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.; sleep from 11 p.m. – 6 a.m. provided no emergencies occur. Coordinator supervises shelter guests and volunteers; and are fully trained prior to first shift.

LUM Volunteer Tax Preparers Needed

Volunteers are needed from January-April 2015 for LUM Tax Program. Bilingual, multi-lingual, and international experience helpful.

LUM Tax Program represents an effort to strengthen our community Volunteer Income Tax Assistance volunteer base. VITA is a nationwide program with the combined experience and knowledge of our volunteer base, our community secures greater financial stability and economic opportunity for working families.
