RAJA4DIVERS FIRST APPEARANCE AT AN INTERNATIONAL DIVE SHOW: SINGAPORE ADEX SINGAPORE (20 - 23 April 2011)
The alluring booth drew many interested divers with the colorful display and the new ‘Passport to Pulau Pef’ brochure, which turned out to be a big hit!
!
The panorama image was taken in the late afternoon, and the shadow of the pier-building is clearly visible on the jetty.
A panorama of the resort as viewed from the main pier building at the end of the 100m long jetty.
A spectacular view of the main jetty, pier building and over-water restaurant, as seen from the ‘house mountain’, which has 360° views of Pulau Pef...
All fittings are designed and constructed on-site by a team of talented craftsmen. A solid set of stairs is added to the pier building for the convenience of divers, swimmers and snorkellers.
The walkway along the edge of the beach was not originally part of the construction plan, but seemed the most convenient way for guests to access their bungalows. It turned out very well!
The new raised wooden walkway that connects the guest bungalows to the main buildings...
Furniture production is in full swing ...
... and the blinds are ready for the restaurant.
Some of the larger wooden sculptures will be used as the base of the buffet table in the restaurant...
The exceptionally talented artisanscarve all manner of characters and figurines using left-over wood, or even dead wood found in the mangrove...
Finally, official tests confirm that the water from our natural well is suitable for drinking, and of excellent quality!
A construction team is hard at work on the 220 m long jetty through the mangrove forest to the rear bay of Pulau Pef. The work in the mangrove swamp is anything but simple. The team had to work extra carefully so as not to damage the environment while carefully placing the poles for the jetty. The walkway is very important as it grants easy access to the tranquil bay in the rear, which is a natural protective harbour for the boats and a perfect starting point for the kayaks, with which one can discover Pulau Pef - ‘a mini Raja Ampat all in one '...
And the jetty also allows guests to be immersed in the mangrove forest, a different world, calm and quiet, broken only by the chattering of birds or the quick splash of a small mangrove water creature. The quirky roots of the mangroves are mesmerizing... And depending on the tide, it is possible to see mangrove crabs, juvenile marine creatures, mangrove snails, monitor lizards and much more...
The new (and neat!) Dive Centre, set up by Sabine and Armin, and their hard-working crew...
Armin works at his well-equipped work-bench to ensure that the equipment is in tip-top shape!
Brand new and shiny 12L scuba tanks!
The weights are neatly arranged according to...their weight!
Individual set-up/work stations enhance the imaging enthusiast’s experience, with cleaning kits, tools, plug points, battery charging area and padded protective camera crates.
Ideal for individualised imagery review sessions and workshops, fully loaded with the latest in post processing software for stills and video.
The state-of-the-art climate controlled Underwater Imaging Studio, in the capable hands of Claudia and Leon, is now operational...
Amazing marine sightings around Pulau Pef...
A sail-fish in full display, in front of the resort...
...a Mola Mola (Sunfish), came over to seemingly
‘kiss’ the boat on the way from Sorong to Pef...
Danci, one of our dive guides, rescued this Claret-breasted fruit dove from the water...
It is not easy to get a clear photograph of the red bird of paradise, but Niggi, one of our guests managed it.
And last but not least - a call for more investment capital!
As mentioned previously, Phase One is in the final stages, and preparations begin for Phase Two...
What is the advantage of an uninterrupted advance into Phase Two?- The construction workers are already settled and make a good team, saving costs and logistics.- No additional travel costs, recruitment and training for construction workers- Infrastructure is in place; no additional set-up during commencement of Phase Two.
What is included in Phase Two?-A second generator (Perkins 30kw)-A large speedboat for comfortable fast transfers to and from Sorong.-A small bar area-Two additional guest bungalows-Compressor workshop building-A fuel storage depot-An air-conditioned multi-purpose building (imaging studio, curio shop, etc.)-A laundry facility-A 50m long work-jetty-Staff buildings
