Local fishermen currently ussmall boats that can be easily hauled on shore fostorage. The project would provide a sheltereharbor and enable fishermen to use larger boaand modern technology to fish year round, thusignificantly increasing their annual harvesImplementation would involve the constructioof a 970-foot long breakwater that created 9 acreof protected harbor. The project includes

    boardwalk access and jetty walkway as recreation feature. Maintenance will include thremoval of the shoaling in the entrance channeand inside the harbor. The project was completeand the recreation features transferred to thsponsor in July 1995. Maintenance of thBreakwater and designated channel will remain Federal responsibility until the total maintenanccosts exceed 2.25 times the federal constructiocost or approximately $8.6 million. In order to ensure that the sponso(ENLACE) provides a report that meets federaregulations and guidelines, funds need to bappropriated to the Unites States Army Corps oEngineers (USACE). USACE will not providfurther technical assistance during FY 201unless funds are appropriated for such purpose.
