A Letter From Our President
President's Message
Resolutions - To make only those that we can keep! Mine is to be kind and smile even when I feel crotchety. What a December we had, we should call it "Holiday Book Month". A B C has been completed in Westbrook and started in Portland; an incredible book drive finished at Books-A-Million and those books have been labeled, sorted and are ready for shelving; Christmas books were wrapped and delivered to three Portland area Boys and Girls Clubs for their parties; a tree was purchased and decorated with a book theme for Westbrook's Festival of the Tree, and at Christine's urging we had a table of eight at the Festival's "Lunch for TIPS" benefiting Westbrook's Food Pantry. That's not all! Nicki led the team preparing and serving another delicious meal at Ronald McDonald House and our friend, Wayne Franklin, helped us deliver our Christmas tree INTACT to the Riverton Boys and Girls Club in time for their Christmas Party!
We are not all work and no play - Marie and the social committee planned a fun and stress free Christmas party on the 18th at St Peter's with no lugging of heavy bags of groceries since we had voted to collect cash funds for Wayside Food Programs (if you missed the party, you can still donate), their buying power is greater than ours! The food was great and our social team came up with games that tested our holiday knowledge! Who doesn't want to win chocolate?Looking forward to this new year, we will be hearing our mid year reports at our meeting on the 8th and our in-house auction on the 22nd (remember the date changes due to New Years). Of course, I must add, keep on selling those calendars, how many times do you have the chance to win 30 days in a row? In addition to our monthly commitments, Booksgiving is coming up fast, our opportunity to share classes outside of A B C with wonderful books, Bags of Hope and the Volunteer of the Year are on our horizon. Marie will be chairing the nominating committee for officers for 2020-2021, if approached to serve, please consider holding an office, building fine leaders is an important part of our mission.Thank you each and everyone for all that you do to help make our community a better place for all and the very best to you and yours for a healthy, peaceful and happy New Year.Anita"Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier." Mother Teresa
Merry Christmas to All,Anita Chandler

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
This is your chance to find a good home for that Christmas present you
don't really want or that old-but-still-good item you have that's been
replaced by something new. Bring your cherished-though-used, or just-
like-new, items to the January 22nd dinner meeting at the Clarion Hotel
and help raise funds for our in-house use.
AND come prepared to find that special something that you want to take
home. We don't make any money unless someone is buying the things we
bring!

FINANCE COMMITTEE NEWS
What a wonderful Christmas social we had. As you know this year, we decided to collect monetary donations for Wayside Food instead of collecting food. Wayside can purchase more food with the money than the food we give them. For those members who could not make the social but still would like to contribute, feel free to email me that you will be mailing a check to me. Your contribution should be made out to Altrusa and I will tally up the contributions and mail one check to Wayside.
Thank you for all your contributions time and money. Wishing you a peaceful holiday season.
Thank you for your supportWanda Pettersen
Many Thanks to the Social Committee for putting on a Merry, fun-filled Christmas party.
